From what I've heard on the news he had "ammunition belts" I'm assuming he had a bunch of pre-loaded clips.

So we can assume this was premeditated.

I figured he might have shot his girlfriend and after that completely lost it.

You would do well for yourself to always maintain a very healthy skepticism to anything the media reports and to perceptions you yourself develop based upon media reports. Are there suddenly a lot more bus crashes in your area or is the media just reporting them more? Are their a lot more school shootings or is the sensationalist media just focusing on them more. You get the idea.

If you want to freak out about bad stuff happening in schools, just look to the middle east. School bombings, girls being lined up and shot, teachers being hunted down and killed in the name of Islam, etc. You name it.

Maybe it is time to rethink lock-down policy. This guy figured it out and played it perfectly - get everything locked down and then go on your rampage. I actually thought lock-downs sounded half-decent for shootings (not bomb threats obviously) until now.

yeah he did play it perfect. It's scary because this was clearly planned.

Since most of you don't know the layout of VT I can give you an idea of how he moved. West AJ is on the resident side of campus. It's the largest dorm at VT so there were lots of people that could have been hurt (thankfully they were not).

The class where most of the people died is on the other side; about a 15 min. walk for most people. It's right around 1 mile or so away. There are so many routes to take it would not have been hard for him to move to another building and no one would be the wiser. Catching someone right away isn't a realistic scenario unless a police officer got lucky or a bystander took him down. If he had gone into McBride instead of Norris the number of victims could have been a lot greater.

Or you could just subtract 4 from 20 and get 16....:shrug:
