Osiris 04-10-2007, 01:44 PM I got mine a week ago or so.
I hit 70 after having done maybe 3/5 of the quests in Netherstorm, before that I'd done Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, Terokkar Forest and Nagrand. Might be worth noting that I played my warrior to 66 then stopped for several weeks, leaving me rested all the way to 70.
Anyway it left the whole of Blade's Edge Mountains and Shadowmoon Valley left for farming quests + rest of NS. I had about 1300g when I hit 70 and it took me like one and a half week of questing to get 5200g. Still there are a couple of quests in SV I've yet to do.
My profs were herbalism and mining, but I didn't go out of my way to farm them, just whatever happened to be in the area as I quested/travelled. Now I've dropped herbalism and started powerlevling BS, currently at 155, having bought almost all of the mats necessary to go from 1 to 200. Currently I have 780g.
I just had to write that out :)
Not necessarily bragging, but that seems like a surefire way to get your epic mount pretty easily.
PessimiStick 04-10-2007, 02:51 PM I levelled my rogue as fast as possible (no rested to speak of), so he was halfway through Netherstorm when he hit 70, with only Shadowmoon left.
Warlock had all of Nether and all of SMV left, with a couple quests in Blade's Edge.
Warrior still has some of the "youbeat Nagrand" quest left, and all of BE, Netherstorm, and SMV. You can leave a TON of quests if you play only with rested, and solo if possible. I had my friend's pally on /follow while I levelled the warr, so I solo'd all the group quests as well.
I stole the cash I made from levelling the 'lock to buy my epic on the rogue, but I doubt I'll buy another epic mount.
LOL Internet 04-10-2007, 04:53 PM I grinded my Mage from 64-70 on Blood Elves, doing 0 quests (and not one instance). So when I hit 70 I had all of Nagrand, Blades Edge, Netherstorm, and Shadowmoon to do for money.
I started at 60 with 1000 gold and hit 70 with 4500 just from the grind (all the elves I grinded dropped the Scryer rep items, which sold really well when expansion had just come out). Got my mount the next day and around 2000 left after I finished up those zones (I spent a lot getting tailoring from 0-375).
Calamari 04-10-2007, 05:05 PM I just hit 69 with about 1300g, and still have all of Netherstorm, BE and SM to do. My plan is to hit NS, quest through 70 and use all the remaining quests for cash. Of course, I'll end up losing 900g when I buy my regular flying mount
Think that plan will get me close to the epic?
Bane Grievver 04-10-2007, 05:06 PM Hmm, that sounds like a good idea. I've already done all the quests the first time so the funnest part of enjoying them has already passed on my main. Where did you go to grind the Blood Elves? That place in Terrokar?
LOL Internet 04-10-2007, 05:43 PM Yeah, that's the place. Really fast respawns there, there can be like 4 people grinding there without a problem.
Smaqaho 04-10-2007, 05:46 PM I started TBC with 28g after a respec to shadow :( When I hit 70 I had 1400g and aside from about 30 Blood Furnace runs that was almost all solo grinding mobs and quests. I still had Netherstorm , Shadowmoon Valley and Terrokar Forest quests to do upon hitting 70.
Unfortunately raiding costs me about 200-300g a week between repairs, mats, candles, potions, etc and grinding time is hard to find. I got up to about 2300g in a couple weeks of farming motes and decided I'd pick up an easy 200-300 +dmg by PL'ing tailoring. 950g to 360/375 and able to make some frozen shadoweave, another 600g to hit 375 and have 2/3 pieces plus about half the mats for a 3rd. Now I'm down to 600g :| After the 3rd piece and Belt of Ruination though I'll have nothing but pots and repairs to pay for so it shouldn't take long - and I still have all of Netherstorm and half of Shadowmoon Valley quests to complete.
ragingbunny 04-10-2007, 05:54 PM smaq, u can knock out all of netherstorm in 2 2hr sittings, with the flying mount its fucking easy, most of the quests just wowhead.com it, then fly to the obj, dismount kill maybe one mob, complete it and mount/fly away, nether is EASY gold
Smaqaho 04-10-2007, 06:06 PM smaq, u can knock out all of netherstorm in 2 2hr sittings, with the flying mount its fucking easy, most of the quests just wowhead.com it, then fly to the obj, dismount kill maybe one mob, complete it and mount/fly away, nether is EASY goldYeah I know :p My problem is I go up there and either end up camping mana thistle spawns or farming scryer mobs until a heroic group starts up. My available playtime is generally 8-11:30cst, our guild raids from 8-11ish cst (only 2 nights a week, but Karazhan and heroics on most off nights). Weekends I'm tied up most of the time with family obligations and our guild raids Saturdays 4cst-whenever so quest time is limited to offnights - and those are generally the nights I try finding or forming groups for badge farming. The good news is when I get a couple days to quest I have alot of gold to make :p
ragingbunny 04-10-2007, 06:31 PM haha
Feannag 04-11-2007, 03:00 AM Had about 1500g from questing 60 - 70 and bought a regular mount. It was a moot point since in order to get epic you'd have to spend 800g on the 225 riding skill before you can dump 5000g into the 300 riding skill. So if you wanted to go from epic lvl 60 mount straight to epic flying would be min. 6000g anyway.
I did everything in Hellfire, Zang, Nagrand and most of Blade's Edge (a couple of group quests not done) and probably half of Trekk. Pretty much leaves all of Nether and Shadowmoon and the rest of Trekk and zero dungeon quests.
