HollyW00d 04-10-2007, 12:44 PM I see your crap.. and raise you an Alloy powerhouse
Alloy Software - Help Desk Software | IT Asset Management | Change Management | Software Licensing Compliance (http://www.alloy-software.com/)
Wow an overpriced help desk/network management software package. Hey welcome to the thread where this software can do the same thing but is free.
I HIGHLY doubt you can find anything that even comes close to the alloy package... the thing tracks everything under the sun w/web&thick client
HollyW00d 04-10-2007, 12:53 PM The question is why did you feel the need to advertise that particular software when we are all talking about Spiceworks which happens to be free.
Colosus 04-10-2007, 01:01 PM
I only have 25 workstations. But I have over 100 servers hosted by different companies.

sure... but i'd have to PAY for alloy, right?
while it's a nice piece of software, I have no need to pay for something enterprise-level when I run under 100 workstations in a smb setting.
nSpectre 04-10-2007, 01:23 PM I'll have to check dis out. :)

Yeah, I've been playing around with that. I've also been looking at Nagios and OpenNMS though as we're cheap.
Murphy 04-10-2007, 02:01 PM well it seems to be ok here. It qualified alot of my printers as "unknown" but other than that, it's alright. I'm gonna keep playing with it.
CosmicBlend 04-10-2007, 02:02 PM Cant beat free if it does the job for you
Breyer 04-10-2007, 02:21 PM I tried this out back in 1.0 it had some quirks with setting up IP ranges.
I'll have to try out the latest sometime.
Ludicrous Speed 04-10-2007, 02:25 PM Thanks
[GF]Drakkan 04-10-2007, 02:49 PM ncie little program.

CelticLegend 04-10-2007, 10:27 PM thank ye kindly
update: i have impressed the shit out of my boss with this program. he was just wondering if we needed a help-desk trouble-tracking sorta software. :) good fucking timing.
now all we need is a linux version so i don't have to put it on a windows box...
Update 2:
Been working on trying to get it going under Wine. Relevant thread here:
Spiceworks - Running Spiceworks under Wine (Linux) (http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/2451)
Wine Application DB - Viewing App - Spiceworks (http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=4949) <- the thread @ winehq.
If you're able to help out, please give it a shot- the idea of throwing this into a linux-based VM that can go anywhere on my network is incredibly appealing.
