Just installed WinXP and after booting for the first time, it's asking me for a password. So I've tried leaving it blank and using 'admin' but neither are working, wtf. It never asked me during the installation to provide one, what gives?

First of is this a manufacturers provided OEM copy?
Is it a 'backup cd'?
Many times manufacturers and even IT departments will add answer files to the install CDs to help automate/standardize the installation of an OS.
If you didn't get prompted to provide one it was probably set by an answer file. If it's a manufacturers CD then you should be able to find the default password online.
Also, Were you asked to provide usernames during the install? I believe the first username entered on the list is automatically given an admin account with a blank password. You can use that account to reset the 'Administrator' password.

No such thing as admin
its administrator and there will be no password by default
