I have 2 brand new computers I am working on.
I have installed all the windows updates including IE7 and Fsecure antivirus.
That is all.
When I turn the computer on and the following error appears:
Internet Explorer encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If i go into the event viewer I see the following error:
Faulting Application:iexplore.exe ver. 6.0.2900.2180, Faulting Module, Version 0.0.0.0 at address 0x00000000.
This happens only after I do all the windows updates until I see the screen proclaiming there are no more updates to install.
The error is the same with IE 7 installed, just a different version number. I tried uninstalling it to see if it was the issue and had no luck.
I have used system restore to go back to an earlier time, no good.
I have used the restore cd to set the computer back to original, which works
great if I don't install windows updates. As soon as I do the problem returns.
I have tried completely reformatting the drive and doing a clean install from the xp professional cd. Same thing happens.
It sounds like a bad windows update, but if that were the case I would be finding more people having the same issue. Anyone else having issues with IE after updates??
Any other suggestions besides use another browser? Unfortunately that is not an option.
