Hey guys, I'm trying to decide what I want to upgrade in my system. I don't want to do a full upgrade of my system yet so I am just looking for a relatively cheap performance increase.

Current System:
- Pentium 4 3.0C (Northwood) Socket 478
- 1GB PC3200 RAM

Possible Upgrades:
- Pentium 4 3.4EE (Gallatin) Socket 478 ($119.00)
- 1GB PC3200 RAM ($79.99)

I don't game that much anymore, but I do a lot of heavy multitasking. Which upgrade do you think would be better for me? Thanks for any help.

Honestly if you are limiting yourself to those two choices then I'd get both. Perhaps even another GB of ram for 3GB total.

i would say the ram would have a larger impact, but even with both upgrades its still pretty minor.

what sort of multitasking? Office? Rendering/CAD? Media? What applications?

Initially, I would say you would benefit more from having more memory. Do you find your systems free physical memory running low?\

If you still have plenty of free memory when multitasking I would say go for the CPU.
