Animal 03-15-2007, 02:51 AM I'm sure this has been discussed many times, but I'm too lazy to search.
Which is the better buy and why?
I saw my friend playing a PSP today and it looked mighty cool. My only concern; what about the games?
The new super mario game for DS also looks enticing
halp
Grief 03-15-2007, 02:52 AM DS
unless you like modding, then get the PSP
Le Sean 03-15-2007, 02:53 AM get a psp when the new design comes out
get the DS now
mod the new psp once they crack it
enjoy
Xcursion 03-15-2007, 02:54 AM It depends on what you plan on doing with it. I love my Nintendo DS. I enjoy playing games on it but it isn't huge on graphics. I do not have a PSP but I have been told games look damn good on it. It also has a PS1 emulator if you're looking to play some older games and it is also great if you want to watch some movies while on the go with it.
Animal 03-15-2007, 02:56 AM yeah, I love Nintendo games but I also saw the size of the PSP screen... looks pretty good and I hear the PSP hardware is better, like always
confidential 03-15-2007, 02:59 AM honestly
neither
Reaver 03-15-2007, 03:00 AM The psp is gorgeous, but the battery lasts about an hour. I've seen the ds last 8 hours or longer.
I'd get a psp is they ever get a reasonably long charge battery (5+ hours), because having to keep it plugged in to play defeats the whole point of portable.
yo ani, quickly tell me what you want out of a system.
Le Sean 03-15-2007, 03:01 AM seriously, wait for the new psp2
Animal 03-15-2007, 03:02 AM yo ani, quickly tell me what you want out of a system.
haha well judging by the replies I'd say a combination of both
I want something that looks good (I'm no stickler, it's portable) and has plenty of fun games to play. I don't want to have to squint to see it and I want to be able to play it for a while without charging.. in a nutshell
how did I get into this nutshell
Animal 03-15-2007, 03:02 AM seriously, wait for the new psp2
when does it comes out

Le Sean 03-15-2007, 03:07 AM PSP2 probably is or isn't coming -- maybe - Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/13/psp2-probably-is-or-isnt-coming-maybe/)
Almost since its inception the PSP has been subject of relentless redesign rumors -- and why not? By most portable gaming device standards it's positively ginormous. Blame it on the UMD, that beautifully massive 4.3-inch screen, or its lack of internal memory, but a thinner, trimmed down PSP is just what the doctor ordered. And while Sony has repeatedly (and expectedly) denied the prospect of an overhaul, SCE UK managing director Ray Maguire recently stated that a "smaller, lighter" PSP was in the wings; of course, that was immediately rebuked by an SCE UK statement that "There are no immediate changes planned for PSP." Look, the PSP isn't going to be like this forever -- either they introduce a new model, or they redesign the current one, but pretending like neither is happening is just silly. We're on to your little game, Sony!
This is the most recent thing I've seen on it, but I've read somewhere else that it's definitely sooner this year. Then again, the psp doesn't really have a deluge of compelling games, so there is absolutely zero harm in waiting, while the ds has an assload of games out now.
FishStix 03-15-2007, 03:07 AM DS has 10+ hrs of battery life. I would definitely go for the DS, simply because it has many more (and better) games. Especially if you like RPGs, square is throwing a ludacris amount of support to the DS. If you want pick up and play, there are tuns of great puzzle games out there. If you want simple fun, there are great sidescrollers and TUNS of single cart / online games not to mention Mario and Sonic games. If you want action, there's Metroid. If you want racer, NFS or Mario Kart.
Not to mention a Zelda game on the horizon.
I love my DS, but that's just me. I am a huge Nintendo fan.

I don't know what PSPs people on tribalwar have. I normally get about 5 hours of life on mine, which is acceptable, if you need it for more than 5, and not on a 22 hour business flight to bangkok, you are spending way too much time on a handheld.
I have both, a PSP and DS, simply because PSP kicks ass for homebrew (read juarezing games) and DS just rocks because of its niche games (I'm a huge fan of phoenix wright [lawyer game] and hotel dusk [detective game]) games that could never make it to the PSP.
but overall, I use my PSP more, simply because I have every game I want on there, movies, and wifi internet.
Animal 03-15-2007, 03:14 AM hmm yes very interesting
with all being said, I need to try out the DS first
I think the biggest attraction is being able to dink around anywhere and play new super mario or mario kart
but damn, the movie aspect of PSP is pretty sweet
they sure did a good job of making it a tough decision
Not to mention a Zelda game on the horizon.
+ I can't help but get a boner over that

yea maybe someday when I have a better job I could get both...

until you hack it and run the games off the memory stick, then its about 6 hours
HaPpY 03-15-2007, 03:43 AM i recommend psp simply because its powerful enough a system to emulate ds on... you can also play ps1 and n64 games on it, as well as all the old school systems... even old dos games
