ForgottenGames.net is supplying a T2 master server for those of you that don't have access to a Tribes 2 cd key. You'll need version 22775 of the game, which is downloadable from mirrors on our site. This shouldn't be warez as the game was released officially for free in 2005.
Follow these instructions to give it a go:
1. Download the file from ForgottenGames.net (http://www.forgottengames.net/index.php?itemid=11). If you downloaded in parts, the main archive will be assembled once you extract using the parts. We will assume you have the full archive of 400mb for the next step.
2. Unzip the main archive to C:/Dynamix , if you do not extract it here then the shortcuts will not work properly.
3. To start up Tribes 2, select the shortcut ending in [FG] inside your Tribes folder : (C:/Dynamix/Tribes2).
4. Because once Tribes is started it will download the latest server list from FG's servers. You may need to turn off your firewall/antivirus, but we haven't had any problems reported yet.
5. Play!
For those of you that want to host a server:
Dedicated server software (72mb) can be found HERE (http://files.filefront.com/Tribes2_FG_dedserverrar/;6803852;;/fileinfo.html) or HERE (http://www.mediafire.com/?2zkwyoqjuzy)
You can then email me your servers IP, to worrom@forgottengames.net . I'll add it to the server list as soon as I get it.

Nice. This could be very useful when the plug is pulled on T2. Has there been much activity in the servers though?

I just put up the site today, and the thread where i posted this idea got bumped down. We've had a few good games when gathering friends and members from the irc. It can only grow.

i thought the point of the master server was to poll all the servers without having to be added to a list manually...

So this doesn't show all servers only the hacked servers?

So this doesn't show all servers only the hacked servers? It would seem so. You'd need to hack the server application to not do a key-check back to the master.

It will in time, I can always update the serverside of things without a patch to clientside. But as of now they have to be added manually, only a short waiting time anyways.

Class B Network IP Address Limitation.
There was a patch released to circumvent this limitation during the period of time that the authentication servers were down, therefore he should be able to use the latest version.

I also spent a lot of time analyzing and hacking 25034. I've got notes and wrote code for dealing with the pointers to the structures used to store the master address T2 uses. I can make the latest version use GarageGames' or any other Torque compatible master server.

Does this version require you to install with original cds? I have 2 legit copies so thats not an issue, just wondering. I didn't want to hastle with a lot of set up to get it running T2 Classic.

You can download the last version of T2 from RenWerx (http://www.renwerx.com).
