Valve seams to be wanting the whole CS Community against them with this week's Counter-Strike update. (with pictures)

Fucking pussies! Suck it up and get over it.
There's ads in/on all kinds of stuff that we pay for.
Cable TV, Movies at the theatre, movies on DVD, most big brand clothes, T-shirts (most of the times nothing but a big ad--you're PAYING THEM so YOU can do their advertising for them), etc. etc.

As for immersion factor, that argument holds water for some games, but not CS. It's set in MODERN URBAN settings! The lack of ads is an immersion killer.
As long as it doesn't screw up fps or something like that, you've got nothing to complain about.

Ads within games that the customer already pays for in full, is just spitting on the customer. You're argument makes sense, but has many holes. This isn't like previews at a movie theater, this is like a coke commercial 55 minutes in a movie at a theater. Put ads in steam, put them in the loading screen, but putting an ad for the Gillette Fusion in de_dust is fucking retarded (no i don't know what type of product they will be advertising, but you get my point)

ps - fix your sig - though i loved planetside, it's too many images

People know that they are going to get ads when they buy a dvd or a shirt. The game did not include ads when it was purchased by the consumers. Would you like it if your car manufacturer decided that after you purchased a car that they would go ahead and plaster ads all over it with no revenue going to you? I don't think so.

I wonder where humanity would have got if everyone just said "suck it up pussies" when lions ate their relatives rather than inventing spears and killing the lions.
