MaD_ReBeL 03-05-2007, 06:57 PM so sad.
i've never had worse card luck. i've been cold before, for hours even. but never like this.
i wasn't getting 'terrible' cards the entire time. i got plenty of face cards with a 6-10 but then the flop came and i had nothing.
fold.
i got pocket aces once, made the minimum raise pre flop. all but 3 folded. flop comes, minimum raise again, eveyone folds. fuck.
made a straight once, dude folded before the turn. made like 10 dollars.
had an ace with a 10-k a few times, everytime i ended up with ace high against a pocket pair.
got dealt pocket 9s. made a decent raise pre flop, got called by two. check to me post flop, raise again, one fold one call. i knew i had him and i knew he had ace/something. turn comes asshole card hits, check to me, all in with the 40 i had left, dude calls. river .... ace hits.
fuck me, he had ace/king off suit with NOTHING on the board and he called a pocket pair to the river. i suppose i can't blame him, he did have ace/king to my 9s but wtf.
i stopped gambling all together after that (300 dollars short of what i was prepared to gamble with). was the worst vegas weekend i have ever had. every game i played was ice cold.
sucks being on the losing end of probability. the entire night i folded one hand that i would have won with. i had q-10 off and hit the straight on the river but it was a runner runner straight with an ace on the flop. set of aces won that hand.
oh, friday night i was at the nugget which btw they've done a nice job with. the pool is epic. saturday night was at MGM. for anyone that is going two people on my table at the mgm said that hooters during the day has a TON of loose players. some chick made a grand on saturday morning. i will check out hooters during the day next time i go.

...yeah. Ever thought you had a tell?

2EZ4ME 03-08-2007, 12:15 AM I hustle guys like you in the casino all the time ;) I just came from Atlantic city.. Didn't win too much, i took it easy playing 1/2 Blinds and won 1700.. was good enough for me. Heh. Just know this.. its not only about having the best hand, its how you play it. I don't advise bluffing really.. just test how strong your opponent's hand really is. As Jagz said above.. tells give you away. Try not to be obvious when you actually have a very nice hand. Also play creative online.. Online play will help you out. -2EZ

imma a hustla baby
i just wantcha to know
MaD_ReBeL 03-08-2007, 01:03 PM ...yeah. Ever thought you had a tell?
it's tough to have a tell when 2 fold before me, another folds after my minimum raise. i suppose i didnt mention i was middle position and two folded before me. i had also played real tight up till that point. normally i don't play that tight but i am serious when i say "i couldn't make a hand". i just wasn't improving anything i was dealt after the flop, it was seriously that bad.

of course you do pumpkin. just know this, if you can't make 'A hand you've got nothing to play. i don't advise bluffing either, not until you've set up a player for a good lil while.
i don't like to play online, i get distracted. i will be playing 2-3 tables and surfing the web at the same time so i lose track. where i live i have 10 casinos within 2 hours with laughlin and vegas 3 1/2 hours from here. within an hour i have iirc 6 casinos. all of which have sit n gos multi tables as well as 30+ cash games etc. i prefer to play live as my strength is reading people. so please, while i may not post much in this forum i'm no nub to the game.
i was merely relaying a story about being extremely cold. it happens, sucks that it happened in vegas. i'm sure you 'hustle guys like me' fo a livin do yo. yous a down ass hustluh on the real yo.

as bad as MR sounds at poker, you are even worse

i've played 5 cash games since and i'm up 500 ... this includes the 400 i lost in vegas. but you're probably correct. you've managed to deduce my skill level based off one anecdotal experience.
gj
stick to home theater threads, you're better at those.
Blackfade 03-27-2007, 01:10 PM with comments such as below it doesnt really really take a mastermind to realize you're not the most experienced poker player. I'm not insulting you or anything, you're clearly not that bad either as you quit with money left. Most players would of thrown the remaining 300 away in my experience.
"i've never had worse card luck. i've been cold before, for hours even" This is fairly standard, espeically live.
""i got plenty of face cards with a 6-10 but then the flop came and i had nothing. " this makes me think you are a loose passive player
"the entire night i folded one hand that i would have won with. i had q-10 off and hit the straight on the river but it was a runner runner straight with an ace on the flop. set of aces won that hand.

this doesnt prove anything, it doesnt even indicate anyhing.. 5 sessions of live poker is what 1000-1500 hands? if you played long sessions.
MaD_ReBeL 03-27-2007, 01:44 PM this makes me think you are a loose passive player
man i sat for awhile just wawtching the table, people were playing these hands real loose and winning with them. i watched trash beat pocket pairs a good deal that evening. i had to play something, you can't just sit and wait for a good hand, people will fold if they see you play one out of 25 hands. they know you have something at that point. face card + 6-10 isn't terrible and i was only playing them in late position or when on the blind with no big raises and then usually only if suited. but if you don't hit cards to improve your hands you can't win. you can steal a few pots here n there but sooner or later you're going to get called on your trash by a dumb drunk/loose player who shouldn't call with his pair of 2s when everything on the board out pairs him but he does anyways just to piss you off.

i don't know, i don't keep track of hands played in live games.
why is it so hard for you people to understand that sometimes, you just can't win? even the big dogs go through cold spells ... i've read about these stories in their books.
or are you just all so fucking good you always win?
i'll be in laughlin this weekend. i can't promise good performance cause at the river i'm usually pretty fucking wasted/tired from boating all day. i plan to get there before the rest of my peeps on saturday and hope to get about 4 solid hours in before the posse shows up. i'll have a report on tuesday when i get back.

/me plans trip to Laughlin
MaD_ReBeL 03-27-2007, 06:39 PM bring it. rooms a the Avi (http://70.86.69.202/avi/) are like 50 bucks. i'll get you wasted on the boat on sunday/monday after i take your money on saturday.

Cool I'll see you at 5/10
MaD_ReBeL 03-27-2007, 10:36 PM mmm .... normally i would say fine but last time i was in laughlin the highest table i saw was a 3/6.
keep in mind, this is laughlin, not vegas. old people go to die in needles and bullhead and white trash love the river as a cheap vacation spot. i've never seen the avi's poker room though they may have higher limits.
Pengo 04-02-2007, 01:15 AM doesn't seem fun to me to gamble with money that actually matters to you. $300 at this point would matter to me, but I usually play with ~$5-10 buying with friends and I could care less (financially) in the end if I actually lose. Gambling for fun, in hopes of a little extra pocket change for the night is fine...but when its money that you'll notice losing...why risk it with a game of (mostly) chance? how is that fun?
Adroit 04-02-2007, 01:27 AM  @ chance and poker, this isn't roulette.
MaD_ReBeL 04-02-2007, 07:34 PM nothing to report :(
got to laughlin later than i had planned and my friends were already on the beach with the boats. when i finally checked the tables later that night there were only two open tables both 2/6 limit one was a limit kill game. i can't stand limit.
played blackjack for about 4-5 hours on saturday night. started with 100 bucks on a 5 dollar table, left with 60 and about 20 free drinks. money well spent :D.
so, for those going to laughlin, the avi doesn't have any real action. i would suggest the colorado belle if you're planning to actually play some poker.
btw, the river was fucking cold as shit. didn't make it down to havasu but i presume it would have been about 15 degrees warmer for the water temp.
[SES]BaNsHee 04-09-2007, 05:11 PM My week in Vegas went well. 1st, 1st, 4th, 4th, 4th, 10th, and 12th. Few other tourneys I got put out in early. Then I hit the jackpot at Harrahs on the $1 WSOP slot machine directly after walking out of the poker room after winning the $100 tourney. ^^
Adroit 04-10-2007, 01:50 AM Well I just got back from Vegas. I was plus $460 my first time and I'm proud after being down $-300 from $400 to start at MGM.
My seat was awful for the MGM game I had MARATHONER on my left and on my right a guy that gets staked in tournaments from a backer and usually plays 5/10 no max but for whatever reason was playing 1/2 NL to kill time before the Bellagio tournaments. That was the story at least.
The next day I took my last $100 to Excalibur where I heard the games were super soft. They are beyond super soft. I find better players at .01/.02 on stars to be quite honest. Within two hours I was back to my original starting $400 after building the roll to $325 and getting it to $400 by playing in some cheap tourney and placing 5th.
I got to $800 and I wanted to hit 1k so bad but once I hit 800 I couldn't seem to get it any higher :/ I ended at $862. I'll take it for my first time.
And there was the biggest fish I ever saw at Excalibur. This guy I saw Saturday morning at about 8:30 had been there since about 2am. He was playing okay at the time and was probably up $400 or so from a $200 buy-in but he was making some crazy plays. Well Sunday morning rolls around and he's still playing, same seat, same clothes, about 40 hrs into a session. The wad I saw him pull out the day before of about 8k was reduced to about $400. He was calling pairded boards with 5 high. He called my full boat with 6 high and also made a exceptional play with 7s3c on a 3 to a spade flush board calling an all in with 7 high. About an hour later he comes back telling the floor he lost his 8k wad on the ground somewhere. He kindly tells the gentleman he lost it at the poker table. Good times.
June 22 it's 4 nights in a comped suite at the Bellagio in the 2nd week of the WSOP. I can't wait :)
