Rogue/shadow priest/warlock
One loss was a d/c loss. As for the other two, they occured against teams we played multiple times, and each loss occured on the first game we played them.
I know we should have stopped earlier, but we were willing to take a rating hit to see a team that could beat us (seeing as we were able to learn from our mistakes in our previous two losses, and adapt). Our last game only yielded a 3 rating increase. We knew it was time to stop.
I know 2v2 and 3v3 is all about class matchups. Trust me, I want to be playing 5v5. Unfortunately any MS warrior I'd be willing to play with is either not interested in 5v5, or is already on a team.
Surge 02-16-2007, 11:50 AM whats the min amount of games you play for the season?
rating = points? or what? i haven't looked into anything about the arena :\
Feannag 02-16-2007, 12:17 PM I thought there was no set number of games you can play in a season. And it simply factors in what you played during the season's time limit.

Is it seriously that easy?
We played some 5v5 skirmish last night to screw around... got rolled.
floorpunching 02-16-2007, 02:41 PM we played about 12 skirmishes last night, lost 3 times. 2 of the teams that beat us we ended up fighting atleast one other team and beat them pretty quickly. Probably going to start doings ranked fights later this week.
We're running
Warlock / Shadow Priest / Paladin / MS Warrior / Holy Priest
Astrial 02-16-2007, 09:21 PM MS = mortal strike?
So today, did about 40 3v3 battles. One friend d/c'd about 5 times, another 2 times, and myself 2 times. This was all when loading into the arena. Furthermore, there were 3-4 wins that we weren't credited for. Should have been 1800 or so, ended 1640. Has anyone else had this experience?
Our 3 v 3 team did well. Ended at around 1810 I believe? /shrug. I'd rather be playing 5 v 5 but 2 of our members weren't on ;[
Competition definitely gets much much better as your rating increases. Today, we mainly played only one team (the only other team as high as us in rating) most of the time. The first 3 games, they beat us, then we traded wins for about 6 games, then we beat them 6 times in a row. We ended the night after we lost twice to a team we had already beaten soundly before.
Finished with about an 1840 rating.
TseTse 02-17-2007, 09:22 AM Link to the most comprehensive info on Arena, please.
I assume time of day is a big factor.

That's not a good sign, if you are primarily playing the same team over and over.
Ratings are server-based but the BG pool isnt, right? If you get stuck playing the same team over and over, you could prolly do well just trading back and forth if you are both at the top for your servers.

Actually trading wins caused us to keep the same rating for about 6 games. We kept going for 1798 to 1814, back and forth, until we won 6 in a row and shot up to 1880 or so. Then we lost twice to a team we should have beaten and dropped to 1840. :(
Edit: Rating isn't like standing. You can view your ranking in your battlegroup at the end of the week, but it's only for information purposes.

Hmm. i didnt realize it was a battleground-based rating system.
Where can you get complete info on arena?
I'm toying with making a malganis horde arena team that can play during afternoons.
I found these, two...
World of Warcraft Arena Tournament Preview (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/arenatournament/index.xml)
WoW -> PvP -> Arena (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/pvp/arena/index.xml)
As for the "trading" wins, it sounds like the real problem there is that you were both the top teams and there isnt enough activity to jack up the overall ratings. Either that, or the "best" teams were just totally inactive and playing at odd times.

Hmmm... so that means a mediocre team can perhaps get the arena weapons after a month. The gear adds up, but it makes it feasible for sure.
coombz 02-18-2007, 09:45 AM teams with 1 or 2 be paladins will win every fucking thing 3v3+5v5

Nah, paladins are pretty much the worst healers in 3v3. In 2v2 they're good because their HPS is generally high enough to last through 1 dps (which is what most 2v2 teams have). In 5v5, they're good because they bring a lot of utility, as well as having high survivability and mediocre heals.
In 3v3 they're terrible because their heals aren't strong enough to keep up someone with 2 dps on them, especially after factoring in wound poison/MS and/or curse of tongues. My team always ignores/CCs the paladin completely while focusing on their DPS (to be fair, this is what we do to all healers, but it's easier to ignore a paladin than a priest/druid).
Anyway, we cracked 1900 rating today, with a record of 50-11. Played some new teams today, but still haven't ran into any that can consistently beat us.
*JohnnyBlaze* 02-18-2007, 12:41 PM I've seen a few people mention their 5v5 arena team class/spec line-up. Do hunters not seem to fit in a standard 5 man arena team? I don't seem to be seeing any mentioned.

Paladins are fine for 3v3. They have wayyy more utility for getting out of crowd control etc. I don't see how you can say "weak heals" when holy light 2 second cast hits for basically the same as a priest heal. The only thing gimp about them is the lack of an instant heal. When somebody is at 30% with DPS on them, we can either BoP, Flash of Light and give them 1500-2000 HP, or Holy Light and pray they don't die before it goes off.
