Is there a secret to selling stuff in the ah?

I have sold one thing out of probably 20 tries so far. I always set my prices lower than other auctions for the same item and the things I try to sell are always green or blue but it seems like no one even looks at my auctions. Should I set the time longer than 8 hours or is there some secret that I'm missing?

Always use a 24 hour auction, always set a buyout. Some greens are just not worth selling. Nobody wants a sword with +spirit.

If you don't want to take the risk of a 24 hour deposit, you can go for 2 or 8 as long as you're selling during a time when a lot of people are on. Commodities are somewhat easier to sell than weapons/armor.

I don't bother with greens for the most part. Weapons are sometimes an exception if they have ideal stats aka not a sword of the whale. AH prices can be annoying if you are a crafter and some dickface undercuts you from time to time. That happens to my alch every now and then. Over time everything eventually sells at the price I want though. Once you start selling a certain thing over and over you will get a feel for what the best price is.

Auctioneer is great just as of now still causes heavy lag for me when not running.

Auctioneer is also now a banned mod and if they catch you running it will ban your account.

Auctioneer is something of a crutch, just know how valuable things are and price them accordingly. The market prices fluctuates a lot based on time of day and such; sometimes prices will be far off what they should be so you have to just know what that item is worth. Ask yourself: are there better items, is this used in a popular recipe, could you get an equivalent item easier, etc. Just because it's green or blue doesn't mean people want it.

False.

Auctioneer is great, but you should still check around the market to get a idea of prices.

Most of the greens in outlands are better off being disenchanted (get to know sombody that doesn't mind doing it for free for you if you can't do it yourself), or at least price them around 3-8 gold. If a green seems like somebody might actually use it price it 8-15 gold.

Blue 60-70 items are not big sellers it seems, quest rewards are so good that people are not willing to shell out a lot of money while they save up for the epic flying skill.

Greens are only worth selling if they are:

1) green Weapons with high +agil +strength and +attack power - price them between 10 - 20 g.

2) green Wands with stats. +spell damage or + int or both will sell between 20- 26g.

3) Feral druid staves - there are a couple level 68 and 69 feral druid staves in the game - they have bonuses that only feral's would want. These sell for 15-20g.

Everything else should be vendored or d/e'd. A stack of arcane dust will go between 20-30g on my server. Shards are worth even more. Level up a de banker or make friends with someone who is.

Blues are a complete crapshoot atm. As Deadly mentioned, most people are either 1) saving for epic mount 2) saving for crafting 3) already have access to tier 4 gear. The drop rate of boe blues seems to have been buffed - I have an amazing plate dps pair of pants, but there are 5 or 6 others up on the ah atm - this item would have fetched 400-500g pre-bc, but I'm going to be lucky to get 50g atm.

Some of the more hard-core players in my guild are saving up these drops in the hopes that prices will stabalize in the next couple months. They already have their mounts though, so they have that luxury. I am just hoping to get to 5200g by the end of this month.

Good luck, it's worth it.

I would say that without a doubt, the only reason I will hit 375 smithing tonight is because of my epic mount. It removes a *lot* of the tedium from farming ore, and dare I say, makes it almost fun.

I'm closing in on it - 3000g atm. Have a couple primal mights to sell, but they are barely worth the mutes (transmute specced) - going for 100g atm.

If you don't want to take the risk of a 24 hour deposit, you can go for 2 or 8 as long as you're selling during a time when a lot of people are on. Commodities are somewhat easier to sell than weapons/armor.

The normal "peak hours" are usually 6pm to 12am of your server's time. I never had issues selling stuff when I had the day off and setting 8-hour around 5 or 6 in the afternoon.

But Shod is right, usually it's easier to sell commodities (leather, essences, primals, metal, etc.) than to sell weapons and armor. Armor's got to be more specific in addition to weapons. No one will buy Eagle plate, neither will people buy Wolf cloth. And yeah a 2H Boar sword may as well be DE-ed. You should know what stats each animal provides as well as the newer being ones (Elder, Champon, Invoker, etc.) before deciding to put it on AH.

Also if you price stuff low enough you'll get a buyer. If it's stupidly cheap people will either buy it to resell it or use it for an alt or what not.

3600g as of today - the nerf to elemental plateau is driving prices of primal fire up - they are now going for 35-40g. I have 4 primal fires and a primal might to sell, so I should hit the 4000g mark tonight.

why 24hr auctions?
