Current status of online poker?

So, last I heard was that online poker playing for users in the US was pretty much dead because various laws and problems with funds deposits/withdrawals.

Is this the case?

I just went to partypoker.com and checked their funding options (http://www.pay-pro.com/deposit_options.html) and it looks like there are a ton of ways. Netteller is still listed (even though I heard it stopped supporting gambling sites), e-checks through your bank, credit card, etc are all listed as working and free. Is this just not updated or what?

I had thought online poker was pretty much dead because of bush's war on terror (which apparently encompasses online gambling...)?

It's only a problem if you're constantly depositing, in which case you probably shouldn't be playing poker.

I think your best bet is to just get someone to get you a transfer.

Pokerstars has some ePassporte thing but it charges $5 per $50 you deposit. I haven't tried it.

Also, someone told me that you can use a VISA gift card to transfer money to pokerstars. I don't know if this works or not.

any tw people actively playing who can comment?

is there any problem withdrawing?

also, it'd be interesting to see how this has affected other people playing. I don't think it'd be a huge stretch to say that the harder it is to play, the more experienced the players are going to be.

I use pokerstars and full tilt and have never had a problem depositing (which i don't do frequently...) or withdrawing (which i do even less frequently) with my VISA.

I had a problem way back when I first started with Pokerstars, which required my calling my bank where my card is from and demanding to lift the offshore restriction that was impeding my gambling deposits...

I deposit using my Visa Check Card linked to my checking account. It works fine. You can withdraw by paper check, once a week or something.
