Surge 02-09-2007, 01:20 PM http://www.nihilum.co.uk/albums/287/179/5kicelance.JPG PessimiStick 02-09-2007, 01:32 PM That's kinda fucked haha. It does have HUGE multipliers on a crit though, so I can believe it. (Base + Spell Damage) x 2 x 3 x 1.06 = KABOOM. Had AP on as well. Edit: Looking at it again, it was probably: (Base Damage + Spelldamage (with trinket)) * 2.5 * 3 *1.06 * 1.3 So we're talking 10.335 x Normal Damage. I'm pretty sure IL can hit for 500 with trinket activated on a non-frozen target. 1.5 / 3.5 = .043, so assuming a max range hit, 500 - 187 = 313 / 0.43 ~= 728 I think it's pretty reasonable for a level 70 mage to have 728 +frost with a trinket activated. =D Blotter 02-09-2007, 01:32 PM warlock with no armor, poor fella :[ its also possible he got some help from CoE Surge 02-09-2007, 01:35 PM i should level my mage, haha PessimiStick 02-09-2007, 01:48 PM Hmmm, seems IL has a lower coefficient because of the 3x on frozen effect... 313 / 0.143 ~= 2188, so there's something else going on here that I missed haha. Fool 02-09-2007, 01:49 PM I'm a fucking fire mage and even I find my icelance to be fucking disgusting. So unbalanced. Surge 02-09-2007, 01:49 PM mage forums are saying the ss was taken during beta when IL got 43% of damage or something like that Surge 02-09-2007, 01:50 PM I'm a fucking fire mage and even I find my icelance to be fucking disgusting. So unbalanced. what spec did you level with? PessimiStick 02-09-2007, 01:52 PM mage forums are saying the ss was taken during beta when IL got 43% of damage or something like that Ah ok, then my first math post is correct, only 730ish +dmg for that to happen. PessimiStick 02-09-2007, 01:54 PM Should be able to crit for ~3k under the same conditions on Live. Surge 02-09-2007, 01:58 PM thinking of trying this 17/0/44 http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oi0Vc0bZZVVGcobxs iot frost first, filling arcane as i level. ending up with that @ 70 good? Fool 02-09-2007, 02:19 PM what spec did you level with? 100% fire Rho 02-09-2007, 07:24 PM Arcane/frost is insane. Swamp Kitten 02-10-2007, 02:35 AM Arcane/frost is insane. One of our traditionally full frost mages just went arcane/frost and he does retarded damage now. Sigh...now it's even more fun to hold aggro :/ RunningWolf 02-10-2007, 12:34 PM I was thinking about going arcane/frost im happy with pure fire now though as my mage is only 52. Nail Bomb 02-10-2007, 08:18 PM this thread made me spec arcane instability\ice. All i have to say is holy shit. i cant believe how damn strong i am. i killed a lock sham combo but i had the drop on them and ice blocked two times burning every single cool down. I am in a pve guild and i can almost say for sure that they are going to want me to spec to fire for damage in raids. I am going to take a stab here and say since i never was able to get frost bite to proc on a substantial end game mob the 3X ice lance bonus damage is pretty useless then isnt it? Xapz 02-10-2007, 08:46 PM Ice lance is pretty useless PvE raiding, yes. And Frost's strength in raiding rests in its amazing mana efficiency. DeadlyRabbit 02-10-2007, 10:18 PM I respected to 2/41/18 (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mage/talents.html?200000000000 0000000000005520211230003 1253122120353030002000000 00000) a few days ago, I am really enjoying it. I solo and farm with the mage a lot, it makes for a great build for that and I still have lots of damage for instance running. It lets me use a few more spells, which is great with all the mobs that knock out a spell line for a few seconds. The frost bolt is a usefull tool with this build and it also makes the ice lance very usefull (chill effect hits and you can just keep back peddling while tossing IL while gaining some space or you can frost nova and do the same thing. My gear isn't anything special I am at 522+ to spell damage, I did have clear cast in my last build but I got rid of it, and I didn't do anything to reduce casting times on fireball because tanks have such a hard time holding aggro from my fire crits I find I have to pause for a second between casts just to avoid pulling aggro. And of course the latest patch made it so every point in reduced cast time reduces damage. I will have to do a few more instances to see how well it works, so far it felt good. Nail Bomb 02-11-2007, 01:53 AM ice with out shatter in my opinion is a waste of time Rayn 02-16-2007, 08:57 PM That's a fucking sweet UI... | ||
