So yea, recently my laptop has been turing off after 4-5hr sessions of WoW or any other game. The actual laptop is http://www.pcvideoonline.com/productdetail.asp?level=7&catid=187&productid=5478

Anyways, I'm looking for a software solution to the heating problem. Are there any programs out there that can regulate the speed of the fan? I'd like for it to be high-speed at all times (not just when it senses that it needs it). Any non-hardware solutions would be great. Thanks.

If his laptop is crashing hard from heating issues, a software solution will not work. Do you think the fan being on full speed before he starts his several hour gaming session is going to do the trick? I don't.

I simply ignored his request. :)

You managed to make a notebook which has no dedicated video card shut down because of heat? Man, that's priceless.

Are you sure the fan or fans are all this working?

Ivory, what if you have something like AsusProbe[this is an example] or setting changes in BIOS, which is a software side of controling the mobo and attached fans, and its still not enough to get the cooling you want even running fans on high?? Does this mean you still want only a software solution??

You may have a software app that makes your fans run at highest speed but from a hardware perspective if you run your laptop in your lap or top of you bed covers or the intake vents are clogged in another way like from dust, you could overload and burn-up you fans and other hardware... Lots of hardware related issues that would make a software app moot...
