Shinigami 11-01-2006, 02:59 AM I fried my motherboard a little over a week ago and since I've replaced it (with the exact same board), I've been having some odd problems. The biggest one being that I seem to blue screen every once in awhile when I never did before. As far as I've noticed, it doesn't occur during any certain process as this has happened while I was asleep. I'm pretty sure my BIOS settings are the exact same as they were previously. I assumed that because I was replacing the board with the exact same model, there wouldn't be any issues. Am I missing something here?
The mobo is an ASUS A8R32-MVP Deluxe. My OS is Windows XP x64.
Chokee 11-01-2006, 01:38 PM I would run memtest on your RAM overnight. If it comes back error free check your power supply.
Ixiterra 11-01-2006, 09:29 PM Next time it happens, write down the main error code. They aren't very useful per se, but they can sometimes point in the right direction.
Shinigami 11-01-2006, 10:17 PM Half a second after I see the blue screen, it restarts. :/
Right click my computer, and click properties. Click the Advanced tab and select "startup and recovery", it's the bottom button. Then under system failure, uncheck the box that says "Automatically restart".
You then should be able to get a look at the bsod
Shinigami 11-02-2006, 03:09 AM Dang, I had no idea that was there. Thanks.
I'll post the error code next time it happens.
Fox k 11-04-2006, 09:52 AM Blue screen then a shutdown... I would do that mem test like Chokee said... if that doesnt work, switch out video cards with a spare. If it continues to happen, reload windows.
Shinigami 11-06-2006, 12:57 PM No errors with memtest. The blue screen error I get is the generic "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL."
Try first suggestion, run memtest.
If you have a spare stick of ram try swapping it out.
If you have 2 sticks of ram already in your system, try taking one out and see what happens. If you still blue screen try the other one.
Ixiterra 11-07-2006, 04:59 AM Shit, I didn't even read the first couple words: "I fried my motherboard." How the hell did you fry your motherboard? And the motherboard is connected to everything, so if you somehow fried that, you could have potentially damaged other components as well.
Shinigami 11-07-2006, 09:20 AM I honestly don't know what I did. I was moving the system to a new case and it was dead when I finished.
RAM is fine, and I'm pretty sure the video card is fine (Doesn't seem to blue screen while running games). I guess the CPU could be fucked up? The locking up seems far too irregular to be a bad crucial hardware component, to me. It blue screens once or twice a day at most, and has gone several days without doing it at all.
Ixiterra 11-07-2006, 11:34 AM Hmmm. I suppose the new mobo could just need a burn in. I haven't had any troubles with recent builds out of the box, but some of my older computers would usually start out pretty unstable and then would stabilize over time or quicker with a burn in program.

Shinigami 11-07-2006, 03:16 PM Heh. Alright, thanks.
LoOnY911 11-13-2006, 05:25 PM No errors with memtest. The blue screen error I get is the generic "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL."
I'm no computer wizard but doesnt this mean that you have an IRQ channel confliction? You might be able to change that in the bios? I'm not sure.
I got the same blue screen error years back when i just swapped Mobos while keeping the same hard drive (no format) I forget what I did to remedy the problem. I think I might have just re-installed Windows XP?
Hope that might help?
