Soffo 11-02-2006, 10:43 PM I was a Tribes junkie...
But I must give credit where credit is due...
The most fun i have EVER had in a Tribes game, was in TR2
TR2 was a lot of fun, but I think it came out after too many people already cast everything away.
The one mod that did it for me? TAC 2. Spent hours playing that but it never really had a huge following either
Killjoy 11-02-2006, 10:51 PM this really should be a sticky
ColBlair 11-02-2006, 10:56 PM You clearly started playing tribes with T2 mr. vet3.
Well you clearly have no idea. I was playing tribes from a few weeks after it was released. Being part of the AU/NZ tribes community, most of us shun tribalwar like the plague hence why in the years i've had an account here i've only posted a couple of times.
Tribes was a great game, I am not denying that. But Tribes2 was also a great game - I loved both base and classic, each had their appeal... just as I loved both base t1 and some of the mods (eg. insomniax)
MaDAssassin 11-02-2006, 10:58 PM Hey Colosus, is the Tribalwar Competition system still on here? Theres alot of people playin a bit of tribes 2 right now, maybe inspired some people to check it out again and give it another chance.
Maybe ya should start that biatch back up with like a 7v7 Classic Mod ladder. I know id talk to my old tribe mates and get a team going again.

I still have the code and I think the original database still exists (which reminds me I need to snag the schema for it).

Put up a poll and see how much interest there would be. I know im dieing to have a competitive match :)
MikSchultzy 11-02-2006, 11:22 PM I don't have the time, but I just want to say "Thanks" to anyone who had a hand in Tribes. At the very least, I got some enjoyment out of the ONE series of games that has ever kept me occupied for years. (Re: Tribes 1/2 are about all I played for so long...)
I'm still awaiting the day something just as good comes along. I know I'll get flamed for it, but BF2142 is about the closest game I have seen to it yet.
P.S. To the devs that are posting here: You rock for still giving enough of a shit to post. And even more so considering how hardass some of us can get. hah
I've alot more thoughts on the whole situation, but I'd be a broken record - I'm sure I already am one.
Ta Hell Wit it.
SuperNova 11-02-2006, 11:30 PM Toward the end of the T2 dev cycle we had a box signing party where we all grabbed gold metallic pens and joined an assembly line to sign something like 200 boxes for promotional purposes. Snowlepoard was taking some good natured flack for taking a long time to make a paw print on each of those boxes but we pushed on until they were all signed.
In true Dynamix style we were drinking Dom Pérignon out of Dixie cups.
p.s. Its just bizzare to see those pictures. It seems like they were taken a lifetime ago.
lol i still have one of thsoe boxes in perfect condition
Arclight 11-02-2006, 11:50 PM Who else was immediately addicted to T1 after reading the fanfic story in the original (large) manual? Friggin loved that thing. It just put me right into the world everytime I read it.
Put up a poll and see how much interest there would be. I know im dieing to have a competitive match :)
TWL still has a 7man ladder, i played in a match tonight.

Xionic 11-03-2006, 12:23 AM This is the best thread ever created.
Dark Volcanic 11-03-2006, 12:43 AM Much thanks to all of the guys for their input in this thread. I really can't express the kind of feeling this thread gives me about the games that entirely consumed my high school years. It's like contentment about being able to move on from the untimely demise of the franchise. But I'm still going to keep on playing and loving Tribes.
Jelly 11-03-2006, 12:48 AM
I hope you all stick around and play with us :)
Wulfen 11-03-2006, 12:54 AM I'm shocked.
I hold a couple of you accountable for the death of my favorite game of all time, a game that took almost every night of my life for a good 3-4 years, and I come to find out maybe I've pointed my bitterness at the wrong folks. I admire you guys stepping in here and posting some of the backstory and answering what I imagine would be some difficult questions.
I mean, I work in the big corporate environment too, and know full well how suits work, but it honestly didn't hit me until I read these posts by former Dynamix and other devs that the powers-that-be could really have given a shit if the game was any good or not. It seems simple to me, that if you make a good game, the numbers will follow; I guess personal bonuses to some tie-wearing guy who can't tell the difference between a chaingun and a Shrike outweigh that. : \
I'm floored by your Front Page Football story, Thrax. I loved that series. Not as much as T1, but still...how depressing.
React0r 11-03-2006, 12:59 AM Best thread in years
TOMIN8R 11-03-2006, 01:06 AM FPS Football... You would not believe the story behind the demise of that franchise.
MaDAssassin 11-03-2006, 01:13 AM Whats the command to flush out your ingame mail...I cant get any tribe invites.
