Let's make a text-based tribes game, then nobody can complain about the physics because you can imagine them to your liking!

tribes menu:
a. ski down hill
b. grab flag
c. shoot disk
d. ctrl-k

I don't have any real contacts with GG anymore. If someone who does wouldn't mind passing the goings on to them it'd be great.

Someone could always send them an e-mail. I am too lazy to do it.

I don't know if this has ever been done, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.

Now that we know what went wrong with T2 and T:V...

What are the chances that anyone can make a Tribes sequel done right? Release something awesome and get a whole new fan base that will actually be able to play the game with no crashes, have it be pretty, and at the same time be newb friendly as well as keep the old vets around to compete?

I would sooooo come back to play Tribes. I miss it so much :(

Is there ever any hope of T1 source getting leaked? Does it remain intellectual property of VUG for all eternity, or is there an expiration date?

Not that it would matter much at this point... but T1 (and T2 for the newbs) was a part of many of our lives for many years, and it is truely saddening to see it (and the whole franchise) fade away in this manner.

QIX - I hated you with a passion for T2, as did many others; but I give you a huge amount of credit for your coming back to this forum, and conveying that you learned an important lesson. Good luck in the future, man.

Gawd damn. It's like everyone grew up or something. Very un-TW-like.

One thing I have to say, and this usually gets killed around here, but the community features of T2 were f'n brilliant. Not the forums, so much. And the chat....meh, but the tag system and in game organization in a non mmo was incredible. I thought it was an awesome innovation to the fps genre and would have helped immensely if the game had taken off even more than it did

At least one someone in the ET:QW dev world seems to enjoy tribes. It wouldn't be a terrible idea if the TW people already involved in the ET boards invited them over to take a peak, or maybe they're already reading  :sunny: :)

Nothing like a dead franchise to change the hearts and minds.

It's civil because it's just been too long and people don't really care enough to still be angry. I'm sure some are pissed but it's not like yelling on an internet forum is going to change what happened. Hopefully out of all this everyone can come together and release the real T3 (yeah right)

I think Legions was our last hope. The chances of another Tribes game being made are pretty much slim to none.

pretty sure Marweas said he talked to the current brand manager of Tribes (not sure if that is the correct title) and was told that there will never be another Tribes game made due to the failure of T:V.

The franchise isn't as dead as some people would like to believe.

I know I'm late to this thread and all, but if Marweas, Menzo or whoever else want to answer that question, I'd be all happy and fuzzy inside.

Q: Do you actually think Tribes was ahead of its time. By this I mean no other game even today can compare to its steep learning curve, speed and required skills to really master the game (would explain the small fan base). Do you think a *tribes* game will be released in a few years by some major company claiming they invented the next generation of game and the community was ready to add a *third dimension* (jetpacks, not hovering or anything, plain jetpacks like in Tribes) to their fps'es? All this probably forgetting or barely stating the Tribes serie and simply renaming every item in the game to avoid copying anything?

Surely that person can be made to see reason when we tell him that can never happen to again.

doesn't VU still own the Tribes IP.....why? If they have no intention of putting money and effort into another tribes game, why don't they release it or sell it?

Couldn't you really say the same thing about the dozens of dormant IPs that companies (including VUG) have been stacking up for years upon years? I know where you're going, but there's absolutely no indication there of them having any interest in continuing what is basically a dead franchise. If they wanted to do a futuristic team-based game they'd seriously be better off just starting over as the brand carries almost 0 value.

And Dave, thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts. Like thousands of others, I loved base T2 and there's very little I would have wanted different (a fact many people on this forum have difficultly grasping). Just so you know.
