Problem with sound output w/ onboard audio

Here's the deal:

I have no sound output for any regular computer functions.

However, when I use the control software for the onboard audio, and do a connection test, I can hear the audio it generates through my speakers.

It's almost like my audio device is in use, and nothing else can use it. I'm at a loss.

Here's a pic of what's running, maybe someone can see something that's using that resource. (this is a 2 year old install :/)

Hmm, do you maybe have two sound drivers installed? At some point maybe there was a PCI soundcard installed? Go to the control panel->sounds and audio devices, audio tab, and make sure the selected audio devices match up to the name of your onboard audio. And click the drop down to see if there is more than 1 option available.
