In firefox and IE, since I upgraded to a dual core AMD and a fancy new radeon, all my animated gifs are jerky. (I use XP)

They move SUPER DUPER FAST for a second where I get 4x the normal frames. Then they pause for a second and they repeat. Its not a big deal buts its an annoyance.

This has to be a somewhat common problem. wtf is going on.

is that the only thing out of the ordinary, or there are other symptoms too?

Try putting another fan in your case. Its the cheapest solution that we should rule out first.

I kid!

Do you have SP2 installed?

If not, http://exphose.com/upfiles/1/WindowsXP-KB896256-v3-x86-ENU.exe

You will also want to look through this thread as nothing fixes all the video games problems that I know of as of yet (many games will run at 2x normal speed and makes it unplayable and you need to remove a processor affinity, but just read the thread). http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=983781

I even just got Lego Star Wars 2 which is a brand new game and I have SP2 and the game wouldn't run until I used a loader to make sure it was only using 1 processor.

I do have SP2 involved. I haven't noticed any other problems although Tribes was exhibiting similar behavior until I installed the latest Catalyst drivers. I have heard this has something to do processor affinity. Seems silly I have to disable a core to browse the internet (lol) but who knows.

I dunno then. I've never had a problem with animated gifs on my dual core, but I use Opera. :)

The only way your remark would've been funny is if my original suggestion didn't make sense and now you're making fun of me for it. That's not the case.

In case anyone is interested, I upgraded to Firefox 2.0 and the issue is no longer present.
