2142 impressions tribalsnore....thereal Shaolinmonk 10-21-2006, 02:42 PM I like it so far. City maps are pretty sweet, but some need more vehicles. Grief 10-21-2006, 03:13 PM Belgrade and Camp Gibraltor are fun as hell. I seem to play those a lot. Fall of Berlin is very annoying. But maybe it's just because I had a lousy team. F [a] C E 10-21-2006, 03:38 PM the weaponry seems kind of... plastic. i don't know. not solid. shooting kind of lacks the oomph of earlier bf's i guess. the LMGs are bizarre. i hate to scream nerf nerf nerf but they really are backwards, practically automatic sniper rifles... hit detection seems way off too , at least with the knife/paddle which is annoying... and the CTDs aren't much fun... there perhaps needs to be a better counter to vehicles, before taking unlocks into consideration, as i have yet to see anyone with the engi unlocks... but everyone has the zellar/lambert/baur :E meh. a little real balancing (the MGs come to mind...), less jittery titans and a damn 'no-vehicle' mode and all will be well... Dangerdoggie 10-22-2006, 02:55 AM Needs more Titan maps (only 5 WTF!) I like it, I find myself playing Engi more than I ever did in BF2, even from the beta it seems more useful (one hit kills to rear of a tank helps a lot) I haven't had any CTD's on my old outdated 2.8ghz Pentium with only 1 gig of ram. I want more vehicles not less, sometimes you take over a silo and there's nothing there!!! Though I don't want vehicle drop some more Favs would be nice. Some things I've noticed, don't even bother to go prone with the support machine gun, just walk around like your the freak'n terminator and hold down your fire button. Single fire on all assault rifles (including lambert) is a must if you want to hit anything at range, I'd rather snipe with the assault kit than the recon kit (though they did take that massive sway out, there's a long pause before you can fire again though) Little point bonus tip: kill all four of the Titan turrets and you get an award worth 20 points at the end of the round, sometimes it doesn't take but usually it does. Look for AA turrets near the enemy Titan and use those to quickly disarm a Titan. I could see this being exploited as it give you multiple awards in a round for taking out the bottom turrets, have one guy on the enemy titan repair them while the other guy takes them out. You repair the Titan turrets with the engineer repair gun pointed at the console, btw. Maven 10-22-2006, 06:22 PM another point up tip camp the uper tunnels on defense in ur own titan (lauch from ur titans own pods and swing around to the back) get support class and the turret set it up go prone and rack up the kills. easily get streaks of 5-10 plus every kill u get is titan defense and u can titan defense pins....easily get 150 points a round. HypnosisFX 10-25-2006, 04:10 AM went to EB to pick up my sons PS2 game and the guy seen my BF2 shirt and was like are you interested in buying 2142...i was like nope i dont purchase spyware and mods from a box. Hope you don't play WoW. Warden is far more intrusive than the little ad thing is going to be. The game is actually pretty fun, aside from some bugs that were fixed in BF2 but somehow made it into 2142. Oh well. Getting used to buggy shit from most peoples now except Blizzard. They seem to put out the LEAST bug ridden stuff anymore. haniblecter 10-31-2006, 10:10 AM I love almost all the maps. But for those cramped city maps, they either need to get rid of, or tone down, the arty and vehicles. At berlin, those apc's destroy near everyone. If a guy knows what he's doing, and has a few engi's on board, he can just hang back and own and guy who comes. Its sick. In other news, they've made the APC excellent. Before, it was just an autcannon of death with missles for tanks. Now, its an excellent support tool that's balanced to perfection..except on city maps. enDless_Delirium 10-31-2006, 09:57 PM I like RDXing tanks/APCs that start to camp somewhere. Just take a round about route, three RDX packs, back off, and BOOM. MC Hamster 11-02-2006, 07:36 PM bah, I've got the 4 'util' engi unlocks (motion sensor mines are AWESOME), and have been playing with the anti-vehicle rifle for a while. That thing's awesome. Blowing transports out of the sky, 'sniping' tanks... it's a blast. Oh, also fun: I managed to pod-kill a flying transport once. Was on its way into a silo held by us, I was spawning out of the titan, jumped a pod and blasted out.. guided in, landed right on top of the thing. Blew it up, killed the two occupants, and parachuted safely to the ground :) Santa 11-04-2006, 03:47 AM Titan is a bore. I play engi in conquest. Still trying to find the weakest part of the walker. I hit its underbelly, but I guess there's no one-shotting. Grief 11-04-2006, 12:22 PM Titan is a bore. I play engi in conquest. Still trying to find the weakest part of the walker. I hit its underbelly, but I guess there's no one-shotting. There's no one shot. Shooting around the 'knees' of the walker will deduct about half. Shooting it's 'pelvis' from the rear (ramming one right up its ass) will deduct about 2/3. The top portion, no matter where you hit it will deduct about 1/4 and isn't really worth the waste of ammo. Dangerdoggie 11-04-2006, 12:22 PM If a server has friendly fire OFF, don't even bother with Titan mode as it's one APM mine after another. They made Titan mode the main focus for a lot of the badges and it's the fastest way to rank up points wise. Though yeah, it's a pain in the butt to use & will probably get you killed anyway. I'd like it if it was a proximity thingy.. 'fire' the defuser and it automatically deactivates stuff around you as you go by, rather than having to line 'em up perfectly. Re the weak points: there's a thread on one of the sites around I saw once & can't find again at the moment that had all the weak points. The walkers have little 'vents' around the butt, that even regular small-arms fire can cause damage to. You've practically gotta be standing under it to even notice, though. | ||
