Well, my netgear WGR614v5 is connected to both my desktop and my 360 and they both work fine. However, the wireless connection between the laptop and the router is very weak. Sometimes it doesn't even work when I'm a foot away. (when the laptop claims that the signal is 100%) I'm not sure if its my adapter card or the router. (I think its the adapter since my laptop doesn't work on campus either) Since the signal is so weak, I tried to connect it with an ethernet cable through the router but for some reason the laptop isn't recognizing the network cable being plugged in. To make sure it wasn't the laptop itself, I connected it directly with the cable modem and this time it recognized it. It used to work fine when I first got the router/laptop, but hasn't worked ever since I got my laptop fixed.
wtf is goin on tw. (i emailed the bastards on netgear as well but tw > netgear)

I know this doesn't help, but my laptop has a problem (similar?) where I can't get an IP address, even though I have almost 100% signal. It only happens on certain WAPs though, so I'm assuming there's something wrong with my integrated wireless... eMachines laptop, BCM4318 integrated wireless

What do you mean certain WAPs?
It may be an issue with the WAP not handing out IP address then your wireless nic. If you know the network address try and give yourself a static address on the WAPs that dont give you an IP if you are able to access the internet or atleast ping the WAP then you'll know if its your wireless nic or the WAP.

Is there a firmware upgrade for that router perchance? Its the first thing they are going to ask you to do when you contact Netgear. Same with the wireless adapter, make sure youre running the latest driver.

I don't really know why it isn't working... I am able to connect to the WAP, but I cannot acquire an IP address. I tried manually setting an IP but I don't think that worked either. I can't reproduce the problem right now though. It works in my house. :)
