Windows xp 64 bit.

I keep losing my mouse movement at VERY random times. I am about to replace the mouse as I just bought Ayz's mx510, but I can't help but think that it's the motherboard as well.

The mouse is a Microsoft Optical Intellimouse Explorer, and it's connected via the USB ports.

It shows that it's receiving power, but it's not fully lit, only a dim light comes out of the optical on the bottom. It responds to movement on the mouse with a slightly brighter light, but it isn't at full.

Is this common?

do you have a scanner you can plug in and try? Or any other high power USB device you can check?

my camera works great, and has never cut out, and the printer either. I am not sure if they are high power or not.

That or try a different USB port if you haven't already. Though I haven't had any problems with USB ports recently, I had several mobos back in the day that would have some very finnicky ports while others would work fine.

i had some game-freezing problems that involved my usb controller (it was an nforce4 sli board). i had to enter bios, turn off all usb, boot windows, reinstall nforce drivers, reboot, load windows, reboot again, turn usb on from bios, boot into windows.. after that everything was peachy.. i guess depending on what mouse you have you could get different problems. worth a try

what kind of surface are you mousing on? is it glossy, or have very little texture?

What happens if you try mousing on a sheet of paper?

I put the mouse in my girlfriends computer, it works just fine.

I bought a mouse from ayz, and it works great so far. Guess the mouse was just sick of me.
