so i won the $22 rebuy on pokerstars tonight which netted me $9700...

first of all its almost 4am and my brain hurts. second, i just wanna say it feels good to win almost 10 grand.

ok what i really wanted to say is, if you are good at poker(or like to play) and try to play your best most of the time eventually things will go your way. about a year ago i took time off school to play poker full time. i ran my bankroll up from about $2000 to about $30,000. i then played high stakes the entire summer and build up a huge confidence/ego mentality. i moved into higher games and eventually got raped one night 4 tablings 10/20 nl and lost like 1/3 my roll. after that i quickly decided i hated poker and wasnt going to play again(see my retirement post somewhere in the forum last year).

so fast foward to this past year. i bought a brand new truck with straight cash homie and then proceeded to party off the rest of my bankroll at college. then i started to go broke and decided i would have to start playing poker again or get a job or go back to school. since i didnt know what i wanted to do in school yet, and because i hate shitty jobs, i decided to start the grind again.

this time however it was not as easy as before. i sold my truck for less than i bought it for because i was broke. i then proceeded to immediately jump into 2/4 and above which was retarded because i hadnt ironed out my tilt issues from previous years. in essence i lost about 2/3 my bankroll and found myself at another crossroads. either cash out completely and try to turn my few thousand left into something productive in the real world or drop down in limits and seriously grind my leather ass for weeks.

well i chose option 2 and have been playing 1/2 nl for about 3 months on about 4 different sites. i went on like 3 vacations which cost me a lot of my poker roll but i feel it was worth it in the end to refresh my mind. just recently i decided to take another semester off from school and try to really make a run at a big bankroll before i turned 21.

tonight i have done just that. after dedicating my night to 5 seperate tournies, i cashed in 3, final tabled in 2, and won 1!. im mostly a cash game player but when i set my mind right i can do very well in mtt's.

so after reading all this stupid semi sentimental crap i guess my closing thoughts are: good things do happen to grinders who continue to play good poker and strive for big paydays. i cant tell you how many disgusting beats ive taken in tournies the past 6 months but none of them matter when you finally put it all together for a nice win. thanks to everyone for their semi-support and i hope i can give you guys more stories(more interesting ones anyway) later this year. - beeyoung

Awesome bee. There really is no comparison to the people who do it for a living and those who don't. You go through the absolute gamut of emotions over this fucking game. I was down to $400 once, had to buyin part of my tax return, then two weeks later I had $8,000 to my poker name. It is most definitely the most stressful job I've ever had. Plus your state of mind before you play is such a huge factor. A bad run begats another bad run when you can't snap out of it. Limit or no limit it doesn't matter, it's all a crazy game of poker. <Enter O.A.R.>

Which is why I'll never be a professional. I like playing for fun. The second it becomes work removes any aspect of fun from it.

muchos congrats b... i always hate to see it when you're playing bad because i know when you're on top of your game you can kick some serious ass (i.e. now). but we all get that way from time to time... i just wish it didn't have to be like that

p.s. fool don't you think that's true about anything? i wouldnt say it removes all aspects of fun from it, but i would say it graduates from a hobby to a discipline... where it becomes much more challenging emotionally and mentally, but also much more rewarding. thats true about sports, music, and even more difficult subjects like physics or history

congrats.

isn't it hard to play 3-4MTTS at once...do you have trouble knowing when to switch gears? I don't know how I could keep my table images straight in my head with that many going at once.

it gets much easier with practice. i never thought i could play more than 2 tables at once, then when i could 2-table i never thought i'd be able to play 4. now i can play up to 6 at once and still manage my images well, or play 8 and do only reasonably well with managing them. work on it and you'll get better at it.

Yeah but when you play 8 tables, a little bit of tilt goes a loooooong way. ;)

I can handle 1 MTT and 1-2 cash games, or 1SnG and 1-2 cash games, but not more than one tourney at once.
