So my current LCD doesn't have DVI. I'm planning on upgrading my computer around christmas. If i'd use a DVI-output card with VGA-adapter, would there be problems? Also, how big "Bottleneck" would it be gaming wise? I'm assuming nothing big really.

Nope, no problem; it will work fine with the adapter...

Thanks for confirmation.

Next dumbass question: If mobo has only support for SATA, can i still use ATA/IDE HDD? Or will it not fit/work (Low cash and my 40gb is really enough for me, 7200rpm)

You can't put an IDE cable into an SATA slot, but I guarantee you you have an IDE port somewhere on your motherboard. If they're all in use, get a PCI IDE controller.

About the DVI card ; some cards (rare, but I've seen them) have only DVI-D, which is Digital DVI ; with these, the DVI-VGA adapter will not work. I've seen a Geforce 6200 like that, and some motherboard integrated graphics. DVI-I has both Digital and Analog interfaces ; most cards use this, and are adapter-friendly.

As for the SATA thing, if you ONLY have SATA, you won't be able to use your IDE hd. Most boards have BOTH SATA and IDE, because SATA optical drives are rare and still costly...

If you really do not have an IDE channel for your hard drive, you could use a PCI IDE controller, like Lamb said ; these are cheap... or a SATA-IDE adapter, such as http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E1682 2998001
