backstory:
-bad tstorm last night
-strike somewhere down the street
-i fiinish watching my movie, no power outage or flicker
-i shut down the pc, unplug the power, network etc because its still stormy
-today i plug it in and the computer turns on w/o having touched the power button in front, computer powers up, then down, up then down, up then down every couple seconds, computer DOES NOT boot

things i've done:
-unplug the power and reset switches from the mobo, power up thing still happens
-pulled out the 20pin psu->mobo connector, plugged it in, NO power up

so basically the mobo is trying to powerup the computer on its own
does this even make sense?

of course this happens the day before my term essay is due
help and i'll love u forver :(

My guess is that your 'power on' button is stuck!! Explains why it goes on, then down, then on again, etc etc... Unplug your PC and internet cable, then check the 'power on' button and see if stuck in some or hanging up on side of case; push in real quick and let go ~~~> just "jimmy it" around gently... Are you using a surge protector??
