Personally I think this is a good change, as it lets blizzard design encounters that can play to each classes individual strengths and also gives them more freedom to make the classes go their own way. They will not be whined at for alliance ezmode and have to put in mirror abilities (ie: -threat totem) to keep both sides happy.
WoW is largly a PvE game and by allowing both sides to have all the available classes they can focus on interesting and skillfull encounters that should be of rroughly the same difficulty to both sides.
Osiris 07-24-2006, 08:30 AM Like the Zerg showing up and attacking the Burning Legion and assimilate them into the Burning Swarm. And warlocks will turn into a hero class of Zerglings. And Protoss can show up being like techno-pallies assisting the Alliance and Terrans can be mutated by the Burning Swarm to serve the Horde.
 Good one.
Whimsical 07-24-2006, 02:25 PM This is so wrong. I have a shammy, but now whats the point, pallies will take any slot over a shammy. This comes from everyone bitching about how pallies or shamans are so unbalanced in battlefields, mostly cause no one wants to think of a strat or anything just mindless killing.
Now alliance or horde it doesnt matter anymore, all the same, just different looks...
It's just going to come to the point everyone will either play warrior, priest, or mage cause blizzard keeps screwing with everything else to the point of stupidity.
Rouailtagh 07-24-2006, 05:17 PM When expansion hits it'll be a Horde race to get BE pallies to 60 and online first. Not sure about Draenei shammies though, from the talk here it seems shamans will be kind of like a "So what?" kind of deal.
That's pretty much what I only play nowadays. Mage, Priest or Warrior. I find mage is kinda fun and works well when people don't hit your sheep. Haven't tried priest past 10 though, probably make a Dwarf since I learned quite painfully last night from a Strath live run just how useful Fear Ward is.
Joemomma5000 07-24-2006, 07:50 PM Fuck yeah, BoM, BoK, GoA and WF = fucking awesome dps!
coombz 07-25-2006, 07:41 AM Makes me pretty happy, glad I don't play a shaman though.
Making your character 100% obsolete is pretty lame.

my poor shammy :<

i have a feeling they will be removing WF or nerfing it heavily

As the proud owner of an almost 48 (Prayer of Fortitude! Woohoo!!!) Dwarf Priest who is Holy spec, I can tell you that without question he is one of my favorite characters to play.
As for Shadow spec vs. Holy spec, well, mana per crit Smite vs. Mind Blast ... do your own comparison. I find that Holy spec with the much better heals and much more consistent Smite damage is the better way to go.

Probably just activating the nerf that was supposed to go live with 1.12 where it only procs off white damage. They also made mention that some buffs will not stack (ala windfury + crit stones) so who knows atm.

...uh becase it's the only thing that makes shamans usefull at all in a raid?
They're subpar healers, they can't dps, WF is the only thing they have going for them
You guys act like they're going to be balancing this to current content, that every class isn't getting at least 6 new talents (2 in each tree), and like Blizz somehow doesn't realize that paladins bring more to the raiding table than shamans (even though you're quite aware that they've given each faction both to balance raid potency).
Speculating that people won't bring shamans is pretty silly because you have no idea what sort of abilities shamans will have or what fights will be like in expansion.

Put it like this
everything a shaman can do, paladins do better
DonkeyofDoom 07-25-2006, 09:38 PM Nah, shamans are better windfury bitches.

Yeah I learned the value of Fear Ward at the end of Strath live. First time I did it tanking him was easy with a dwarf priest. Fear warded myself, the pally and the rogue, didn't lose aggro once and he went down without a problem.
2nd time around our priest was NE and we wiped 3 times because he kept fearing everyone and those extra hits being feared and everyone scrambling in fear was enough for him to kick our ass a few times. And yeah I know warriors have anti-fear in zerg stance but it's a little tricky to figure out when he fears and Revenge seems extremely efficient at keeping aggro.
Not to mention dwarves' Find Treasure racial skill apparently lets them determine which supply crates in Strath are trapped or real. Perfect for gathering holy water for Riverdale. All in all I think I'll have fun with a priest, I'll probably try Holy first and then re-spec if I feel it's not doing enough. Interesting thing to note as I saw was there is no Holy resistance, just Arcane, Frost, Fire, Nature, and Shadow. I always wondered why that is...
Joemomma5000 07-25-2006, 11:12 PM Shamans will have to become a DPS class or get some amazing new buff or they are history. I really didn't want to post a thought in this thread other than the last one, but I saw the quick reply and this is how I felt. With both sides having both chars, they need to have a good reason to be there (imagine totems stacking with auras.. nice resists!) or they're history, and I'm thinking it'll be... obscure buff and dps nature casting.

wtb bloodlust
I think they'll be announcing some stuff about class changes in BC in the upcomming weeks/months.
Smaqaho 07-26-2006, 06:01 PM You're getting bloodlust according to a blizz employee currently working on the expansion as a 3d environment artist. Bad thing is... alliance shaman will get it as well. I figured that'd be the horde bonus spell and alliance paladins would get something post-60 that we wouldn't have access to in order to keep things unique. :(

uniqueness doesnt really matter to me
remove wf totem, give me bloodlust, some kind of mana regen weapon buff (we have flamebrand, frostbrand, windfury; where's the water one), and ill be content - provided the new talents aren't awful
