I have to say all the hype around this weapon has been extremely interesting for quite some time... I only hope the means of getting it are really cool.

I think it would be pretty neat if the method of getting the first world wide ashbringer would be less luck based (ie. a rare drop off a boss) but rather based on how well a player can put together a (long) string of clues to figure out where it is. After the first person gets it though, it would no longer be a challenge, since everyone else can follow the same steps. So, possibly, after the first worldwide drop, Blizz would have to change it to being a rare drop from a boss.

Would just be something to do other than raiding week after week.

Those are sound files in the patch MPQs. So either the sword talks or that's from the fight with Highlord Mograine, (SM Mograine's dad).

I am most probably wrong, but it seems as if none of the people involved seem to give any information. so perhaps it is actually destroyed and will be returned through the use of caverns of time in the expansion.

Or perhaps you have to persuade the prince of DM or Nat Pagle to tell you where it is, but one things for sure.... you will require exhalted rep with someone :P

the item Mograine is wielding is listed in the MPQs as the corrupted ashbringer.
