Slobax 05-13-2006, 12:56 PM What class is the least gear dependent (in PVP) @ lvl 60?
Looking to roll a toon on the new oceanic/us server they release - but i'm gonna roll him strictly for PVP. So i want a class that can get to 60, and then pvp semi-well to well without having to raid 8 hours a night to gear up.
I'm thinking a caster class?
DonkeyofDoom 05-13-2006, 12:58 PM Priest or druid, maybe?
TseTse 05-13-2006, 01:34 PM healers, yea.
otherwise maybe a hunter...
obviously +agi and +power can make a huge difference for a hunter, but even basic pvp gear and such will get you into the "evil" realm with skill.
of all the melee/dps classes, id say a hunter wtih the right enchants and just decent +dps gear would be the best compared to other classes.
a skilled hunter with just a pimp bow and good pvp/dps gear is not going to be that far behind an uber-pimped out epic hunter, imo... compared to other classes. i mean, there is a difference of course but it wouldnt be as huge a difference as you'd find with an epic'd warrior, rogue, etc.

Thanks, that's exactly what i was trying to get at.
I think i'll consider Druid or Hunter then. But how would a Mage compare?
Xeri0us 05-13-2006, 01:52 PM Warrior. All you need at 60 is a tuf and you can have full green gear and still crush netherwind mages, rogues, priests, and occasionally warlocks in 2 shots.

I have a 60 mage with "decent" gear. +240 Damage to all, +80 to frost. Mix of blues and 3 arcanist pieces. I have 2850 hp and 5400 mana, which means I regularly get 2 hit by warriors, shaman, hunters, rogues, warlocks, and now druids in catform at approaching 2 hit capability. It has nothing to do with how well I play a mage, theres nothing you can do when you have the lowest HP and Mana in the game for a level 60. Only way for a mage to hold their own in PVP is to be geared with pretty much full BWL gear, at least 1 trinket, and a group of people becuase solo, even a mage with gear will get their skulls fucked.
In short, dont bother with a mage unless youre gearing it out.

Fair enough. Thanks

You are wrong.
DonkeyofDoom 05-13-2006, 04:31 PM Horribly, horribly wrong.
NeverSummer 05-13-2006, 05:04 PM A rank 10 warrior with TUF, lionhear helm, stronghold gauntlets, and some other random blues does quite well imo. Get as close to 5khp and 20+% crit with 1kap buffed as you can and you will do alright.

Rofl.
A mage in blues will destroy a warrior in complete epics, if he doesn't suck ass. Warlocks are the same. And seriously, for a warrior with TuF to kill a warlock in two shots, that warlock would have to have absolutely no +stamina. Shadow priests still generally own warriors. Rogues depend on timers/poison, but it's very doable for them.
Warriors are the most gear dependent class in the game.
Coylter 05-13-2006, 06:47 PM I cant 2shot mages unless i am using deathwish and enraged vs a badly geared mage....and even then i need the crits.
And look at my gear. Its far from what you described.

you can't be Xeri0us.
JohnnyX 05-13-2006, 07:02 PM Hunter.
We had a PUG group of alts running WSG a while back and this one guy who had barely gotten to 60 a few days before was still laying people down pretty well on his green/blue geared hunter.
sekdar 05-13-2006, 09:15 PM ever watch the vid of a naked rogue with only weapons and a cape stunlocking ming in full epics from 100% to 0% with ming mashing vanish the whole fight?
a rogue, well played, can demolish any class in the game. fortunately for everyone else, most rogues do not play well at all.
rofl @ warriors being even mentioned in this thread.

Delete your char and go play a game less challenging, because you obviously suck too much for wow to lose to any warrior as a mage.
WarHero X 05-13-2006, 11:34 PM least gear depedent class doesn't exsist, all classes need gear
Helado 05-13-2006, 11:57 PM Hunter, not because it isn't gear dependent, it's just that you can destroy most people with easily attainable gear.
I'm not sure why you would say healer, you need decent gear to survive the back to back to back crits or enough +healing to heal through a MS.
Slobax 05-14-2006, 12:35 AM least gear depedent class doesn't exsist, all classes need gear
least, being key word.
I know every class in the game is gear dependent, otherwise why would they push raiding (getting gear) as the main end game? I just meant, the *least* dependent upon epiczzzzzz
Thanks for all the responses btw.

WTF are you smoking? As a priest I can drop most warriors np solo that are up to rank14 or have sick DPS gear. In crap blues and perhaps some greens though any warrior in decent gear would tear me apart. Being able to get 420 renew ticks and 12-1400 flash heals is a huge part of priest survivability when smacked with MS.
If it's a new server though, any healer would probably fare well vs crap geared opponents. Any well played hunter is a pain in the ass, gear helps but a great hunter is going to be that way regardless of gear.
