[Oblivion] How do I raise my Alteration level?

I'm currently stuck on novice (5) and need to get up to 25 so I can use the minor latch crack spell (and cure my vampirism).

I can't seem to figure out what spells or actions I need to do to bump my 5 up to a 25.

Help?

cast alteration spells, you should start out with a basic shield spell or something

Go to the discount spell shop in the market district of the imperial city. buy a cheap spammable alteration spell like defend (%5 shield) and cast it till you get up to 25.

i think everyone starts out with an open very easy lock spell. just spam it on any door, locked or not, and your skill will go up like crazy.
