Well it really only works if you have an X1000 ATI card. Heres a link to the beta drivers-

I tried the game with 4x Temporal AA, works like a dream. Jaggies are all gone, but the performance isn't as hot... I may turn it down or live with 2x but it is a definate posibility for future ATI cards. (i'm running an X1800 right now).

you don't get out much, do you?

Why is everyone making a big hoopla over this? Its like wow, someone made a patch for something that was supposed to be made already. Just look at The Lost Cost, you can have HDR + AA on that, and that came out Novembber of '05.

Now here's my question

How do I turn it on? I've got a X1900XT, and I've got the hotfix, but it still wont let me turn it on.

Edit: I found out how, you've got to enable it in the CCC app. (For those that also did not know)

Lost Coast implemented non-FP HDR (cheating) and it shows

nvidia has a hardware limitation, and HDR+AA won't run on those cards until a new arch., and i don't believe any other games on the market feature HDR+AA

Non-floating poing HDR? How is this different or worse then 'normal' hdr? I can't tell a diff between the hdr in oblivion and the hdr in hl2

It's hard to tell the difference, but the value of light simply isn't precalculated like it was for the textures in HL2.

I don't know exactly how HL2 did HDR but I suspect it was from a complimation of SM2 Light Bloom and several normal 8bit textures with different exposure points.

The only advantage I know of personally is a smoother transition between aperature shifts, and a more accurate underexposure scheme. Thats about it. The direction most graphics cards are taking these days though, I feel it would be more efficent in the end to stick to 16bit FP HDR.
