www.thottbot.com <- excellent database of items, skills, talents and quests.

http://www.curse-gaming.com/ <-repository of UI mods. I suggest getting CT mod - adds some nice functionality to the UI.

The official website is decent - I like their talent calculator (even though it is slower than some of the other talent calculators).

For tradeskills, check out the official forums as well.

For talent build ideas, check out the class forums on the official forums. Generally, someone has written out the popular builds.

In terms of some general advice. Pick up first aid, no matter which class you pick - even healers can benefit from having this. Most end-game guilds request you max your first-aid to reduce stress on the healers.

Get cooking. Don't worry about fires, just do your cooking in town when you come to sell your stuff. The stamina and spirit bonuses are good for every class.

Ignore (for the most part) the official forums - the people on there just bitch at everything in the game.

Loot list for most classes, basically the best shit you can get from lvl 1-60.

Don't worry too much about gear until lvl 32 or so, as everything you get from those lvls will be replaced in about two days to about a week.

Warriors are rough to level (unlike other classes, you can't really run away from fights that go badly, and until you get a Corporal trinket, it's very easy for people to run away from YOU), but if you make it to the endgame with one, they're pretty easy to play and very fun to boot. Lots of fun to take a Mortal Strike Warrior with Sword Specialization and just absolutely DESTROY cloth casters in one or two swings (assuming that Sword Specialization gives you extra attacks).

Warlocks are pretty easy to learn too because you have the benefit of a pet to help tank, do damage, etc. (plus if you get Dark Pact, you can steal all their mana and practically never have to stop and drink), but if you get jumped by Rogues or Warriors, it's a lot harder to fight back compared with classes like Mages or Priests, because you don't have a lot of quick ways to get people off your nuts. Instance groups will fucking love you, though, because you can summon, Soulstone, do decent AoE, and pretty awesome damage depending on your spec.

IMO... play what looks fun... and do NOT get hang up on making perfect decisions.

Most of the guys here, we'll lecture and rant on and on... but most of us played like a dozen chars since beta.

SO, just take it easy, have fun... dig into all the details and dont stress about being "perfect" or making perfect decisions. Just learn about the different classes... knowing they are all decent, but that you want to just HAVE FUN :D

ps. use the friend/buddy list wisely. keep in touch with good people, but try to keep questing groups sorta small (2-3 max, unless a dungeon)

If you dont want to be screwed over once you hit 60.. druids priests and warlocks are a great choice ;).
