Hobbiticus 03-07-2006, 12:53 PM My guild was left a bit confused about some of the abilities these guys have. We've seen conflicting answers on almost every one of these questions, so if any of you guys know for sure, it would be a big help.
Is Vek'nilash's attack when magic hits him called Unbalancing Strike? If so, does he use this ability anyway every once in a while, or is there some way to prevent it? If not, what is it?
Does Vek'nilash use this ability when "magical" weapon procs are used? (i.e. lifestealing, perditions blade, quel'serrar sanctuary, instant poison)
Do the emperors aggro whoever is closest after they switch places?
Do enraged bugs eventually explode, or is it just a coincidence that sometimes they tell enraged bugs to explode every once in a while?
Thanks!!!
People claim that unbalancing strike only occurs when he would have taken magic damage, but as far as we can tell, it's bullshit. We've made sure that all the melee that are on him are not using weapon procs, poisons, etc. and hunters are not using arcane shot, and he still does unbalancing strike once in awhile.
We just learned to deal with it. Treat it like Broodlord's mortal strike. Have one priest ready to shield and another priest constantly casting gheal (with mana conserve of course) and you'll be fine.

Yes. And yes he will use it from time to time regardless of whether or not magic is hitting him. I think the bugs can possibly explode and do magic damage to him as well, but I'm not 100% on that at all.

Lifestealing procs a ton, instant does as well. I am pretty sure poisons will trigger it, but nobody seems to be certain about weapon procs. The firebolt proc on perditions is so low I wouldn't worry about it.
Do the emperors aggro whoever is closest after they switch places?
Yes.

There are two commands they give, explode bug and mutate bug. The mutated bugs are adds basically, the exploding ones explode.
Hobbiticus 03-07-2006, 06:43 PM Ok, another question for those that have beaten them before:
Who do you have on bug duty? Mages? Rogues? Hunters? Combination thereof? The one video we found showed mages on bugs and everyone doing physical damage to the vek'nilash and no one doing magic on vek'lar (or whatever his name is). Any suggestions?

What we have learned
-Unbalancing Strike cannot be avoided, its going to happen no matter what you have to buff up and heal through it. It will go off if hit with magic. I suspect its bugged right now and is just going off all the time.
-Bugs enrage (grow) when in 30yrds of the Melee Emperor
-Bugs explode when in 30yrds of Mage Emperor
-If enraged bugs explode they do about 4x damage
-Weapon proccs do not trigger so far as we can tell do not set off the anti magic ability
-When the emps teleport they will aggro the closest person, and if you are in melee of the mage emp he will do the AoE so let the warrior hold prox aggro while the warlock peels it off him
-60 yrds on heal
-We suspect that blizzards center has a max range of 35-41 yrds so mages can stand out of range with improved range
Other than that its just a matter of people not fucking acting like god damn tards and pulling yellow bugs.

TeckMan 03-08-2006, 05:35 AM we have gone so far as to have a warrior using only auto attack, no dps, and he still Unbalancing Striked. I can confirm magical procs such as sulfuras or p.blade do not trigger it. lifestealing i'm not sure.
yes they aggro the closest person and i think there is a bit of initial aggro associated with this, i have heard of people having difficulty pulling from players with initial aggro.
i think it is a coincidence if an enraged bug explodes but i guess no one can really say for sure.
Helado 03-08-2006, 02:38 PM If you use spell alert, you'll notice enrage bug/explode bug show up in spell alert. Basically if you don't kill the enraged bug fast enough you could be unlucky enough to have one explode, but it's pretty unlikely. Also, enraged bugs come from the melee guy and exploding bugs from the magical guy. As long as you don't have any enraged bugs near the magical guy you don't have to worry about it. The bugs are probably there for the only reason so there's something for the healers/casters to avoid.
