How do you join a server using the I.P number ?

Open console with ~

Then type connect("222.111.222.111:28000");

It's either connect or connectip. I'm not 100% it's been like years.. Good Luck. You can also try joingame.. damn been a long time..

In addition, a lot T2 scripts have that feature built in so you don't have to use the console.

You can just hit insert from the join game screen and enter the IP into the box that comes up. This does not require any scripts.

Despite the IRC failure, and no idea when there will be a fix. Our guys at EWo have made a fix to get rid of the pop up that interferes in game. We are going to continue to play the game, even if we have to do it by LAN.
It is great to see more people opening up their old CDs and getting back into the game!!! Wonderful. Follow BigPappa and I to the Elite Warriors Online Server in Tribes 2.. we will prove the game is NOT over!!

I never used that, I swear it only works if you have a particular script installed. I'll take your word for it though.

Don't use that fix. Replacing the entire scripts.vl2 is one way to fix it, but it's the stupid way to do it.

Download this (http://www.filecloud.com/files/file.php?user_file_id=101 671) script from loucypher and put it base/scripts/autoexec. It kills the IRC server error popup, and you don't have to change any of the game's default .vl2 files.

edit: There's also a way to join internet games via lan mode. I don't remember how it was done, but we used it during the time the master servers were being moved cross-country. I think it was just a serverside trick that allowed connections from outside the LAN while in offline mode. As long as you knew the IP you could join the server and put it in your favorites list. By the time they actually do pull the master servers for T1 and T2 I imagine the vast majority of us will have moved on.
