Legends or Volitant Assault?

Which one of these games do you think will make the biggest splash in the Tribes world?

I realize that Legends has a playable version currently, but from what I've seen, it still needs a lot of work gameplay,map and art wise.

V:A seems to be moving at a good rate development wise, but still doesn't have anything that's been released as of this point, which is probably better because people are anticipating it's release.

I'm just curious as to what you all think of these projects.

They gave up on it.

VA also has had a clear plan/design in mind. Organized and structured as well.

We are in negotiations with Jetball at this time, but we cannot comment much further than that.

VA will probaly appeal to a larger base of players. Legends should be credited for the in game physics. Its pretty close to what I think most Tribes players would want, maybe a tad too floaty but the general feel is there and its tweakable. Its too bad they couldnt all just work together.

Thats the whole point... Why spend soo much work doing it all over when they could have merged with Legends.

Well for one they surpassed legends in about three weeks.
Two legends didnt wana play nice and release full controll to REn , Thats only what I heard so its just hearsay. Im sure its much more involved than that, but.. whats done is done.
Legends entered the water but the splash wasnt that big. Its more about what sunb said in another thread , Just drop all the bullshit he said she said crap about what is better and what sucks and just play the damn game.

Well, Legends is out now, so if you haven't tried it yet, I'd encourage you to do so. By the same token, when VA comes out, try that too.

But more to the question at hand, I think VA stands to have a fairly decent player base behind it, considering the mods being developed and public good will towards the project. The Legends player base is growing again, and teams are starting to be organized w/ a ladder being written to help in that effort. So there are good signs for both projects.

In terms of the existing Tribes fanbase, my guess is VA will garner more attention. For the Linux Tribers out there, Legends may hold more of an appeal if VA dosen't have plans for Linux support. My hope is that both projects do well.

Both Legends and VA will need to increase their public awareness though. Building an active community is probably the hardest part of getting any inde game off the ground.

Legends seems so near to perfect, yet the lack of ANY news for so long has got me down. My money is on VA for now because of the sheer size of their dev team and the more recent media releases.

Legends. They re-created the physics and atomosphere of a Tribes game, what more could you possibly ask for?
