What are people's obsessions with flush draws about?

Christ last night in a tourney I push a guy all in on his draw and he calls and naturally wins, pushing me down to 195 in chips. I work my way back up to 45000 in chips and a second player pushes in 50k on a flush draw and again on the river he hits it and I'm out in 79th place.

The first guy probably was a very bad player with out a basic understanding of outs and odds and such. Was the first one early in the tournament? If it was... What buy-in? In a low buy-in tournament, you will always have people like that. Shit, I dunno if that changes even at the higher levels.

The second one on the other hand... Since he bet... Was it a semi-bluff? Maybe he just wanted you out of the pot and made sure to leave himself some outs. We'd have to see the hand to know what happened...

Yea the first was about 20 minutes into the tourney. The second, well he called a lot on draws and I shouldn't have danced with him but it still seems extremely reckless. Though in his case he also had a straight draw so he had 17 outs against my 2 pair

Shouldn't have danced with him? I love playing against people who call down their draws with improper odds.

I would've clicked the fold button...

if he had an open ended straight draw and a flush draw and pushed on the flop he was ahead. If it was a turn push then he was about 30% + fold equity but if he had overcards he could have believed it to be a lot higher. The chance of hitting an open ended straight draw + a flush draw with 2 cards to come is about 60% (it's 15 outs, the 9 suited cards and the 6 straight cards)

It was an inside straight that didn't develop until the turn, so he only had the river to make a hand to beat my 2 pair.
