Are you looking for a video editing or video capturing program? For video capture, the only alternative to Fraps I know of is GameCam, but it's WinXP only. Also, realtime video capture is going to produce huge files no matter what, because it focuses on frame rate and doesn't waste time compressing what it records. There are a number of apps you can use for that. (I "bought" RiverPast VideoCleaner, and am quite happy with it. It can convert between all the formats you have the codecs for).

K . So Fraps works fine.

The rest didn't help at all. So I think I have to solve it my self. Thnx Any way
Amadeus.

I now change topic. Can anyone send me the file that makes it possible to
go in observer mode in demos plz =). And maybe tell me how to do =P I not
any good at stuffs like that.

Demo cam.
http://www.annihilation.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1760

I use fraps, batch compress the resulting large files with virtual dub and a xvid plugin, then edit them together with Windows movie maker.

Fraps makes huge files, about a gig for 3 minutes at half size with game resoloution at 1024x768, resulting in 512x384 video. I set Virtual dub (free download) with xvid (free) at single pass, and index 2.5 for a rough compression ratio of 10x. Smaller files are much easier to edit, and easier on hardware.

Windows movie maker is a free download, and may allready be bundled in your computer, if not head on over to *shudders* the windows web page and snag it. It should be enough for now, and is simple to use. Did I mention it's free?

oh, on a related note, does anyone know if going into web admin for a server and typing the command to start recording in the console, if it would save the server demo on the FTP server?

Bah ! So Democam does only works if u watching a demo from ur own hosted
server. Doesnt works in demos from other servers ? Thats correct ?
If it is this sux.

You can demo as an observer and move around how you like.

Also, to keep the video file size small, you need to compress it. This means you need both a edit program and a codec. Go to www.doom9.org for lots of utilities and tutorials to shrink your filesize down. Xvid and Divx are both good, but there is a hot new one called H.264 that you might want to try out.

Thanks CarpeIppon :). But I already solved that. But it seems like you didn't understand my question. My question is if the democam only works in servers that I self been hosted. Becouse I cant get it work and Im playing on other ppls servers. But i maybe just done sumting wrong. Sorry for my bad English.

If you are connecting to a server that someone else is hosting, you can only view your demo from your perspective.

If your hosting a server, you can do a server demo that allows you to view the demo as anyone (or observer) connected to your server at the time the demo is recording.

Only way for you to view a demo from a server you’re not hosting is to hope the server admin is running a server demo and allows you to d/l that recording to view.

This is how the Unreal demo recording system works. It is also the same with BF2, but with BF2, the server can be set to host the demos for you to d/l from inside the game thru a browser system.

I believe they are talking T1/T2, not T:V.

Help us out here, what game are you making the video in.

Demo cam is for T1, and allows you to spawn a free floating camera in the playing field when watching a demo.

Haha. :P Im talking about tribes1. I have downloaded Democam and film.cs now but it still wont work. I have typed exec("democam\\democam.cs");
exec(plasdemocam); in Autoexec , wich one of em is the correct one ? or maybe both shall b there :S. So Im wondering if the democam only works in demos from servers u self been hosting. Cuz it doesnt work in the demos i got and I playin in other ppls servers. Hope you understand my english.

In T1, you can spawn an observer camera anywhere, in any demo (not just the ones you hosted, that applies to T:V).
