Yes, but you also minimized your gains when he doesn't have top set. Bet more on flop, bet turn. Two pair on that board is a big hand and you want to build a pot. With his hand he's going to make a move at some point so that's when you decide if he's got it or not.

you have to bet this turn. like caco said, most of the time you're not looking at top set. that $6 bet wouldnt look bad on the turn, but mostly likely in this case you'd be getting called and reraised on the river, so yeah you got out with the minimum hurt i guess if you planned to call down.

not sure what you are checking the turn for, looks like you're trying to get fancy. don't be afraid to take down a 'small' pot with a pot sized bet on the flop or turn. here it would hurt you, in the long run its better just to play the hand straightforward at this level.

you incorrectly lost less than you should IMO.

A lot of this depends on your style of play. I personally raise aggresively with any kind of hand in order to present an image and would have probably bet $4 on the turn. If he calls I check the river and see what he does, then you have to decide if it's worth it. Usually someone will try and raise you on your bet on the turn though in case someone hit the Ace and take it down there and then you know where you stand. Of course this is lower limits than what I would call standard playing by a lot of the people because I lose money in smaller limits and make money in higher, tighter ones(again with the style of play).
