v3 : completely changed shieldpack since I realized that it wouldn't be possible to make it absorb damage
with energy without bugs.
Increased pod's chaingun rate of fire to 15 instead of 12 and decreased inherited velocity on exit to 0.5.
v2 : tried to do a shieldpack fix, failed

Grappler ammo decreased to 8.
Shield pack now has 0.20 passive damage absorption rate. When active it absorbs 0.75, BUT it
damages your energy when you get damaged.
Pod made much faster in straigth line, but lost 99% of it s strafing abilities
Inherited velocity on exit increased. This means when you leave the pod, you ll keep 90% of it s speed
Replaced it s weapon with chaingun to remove the ease of using it as a spamball.

well its onyl a suggestion because Tribes is not built on this grappler, it worked wonderfully wihout it, so why do we need it now? Its only caused problems in the player base(numbers of) and how people play the game, like another poster said, its a weapon that if you dont have it your at a huge advantage...

I think what he was saying is that its going a little overboard to completely change the role of the pod from defense to offense.
Just increase the amount of damage the chaingun does to the pod and bomber and you've made the game considerably better without adding anything stupid.
Seriously, the game does not need another way to grab the flag.

I dont mean that he can hop back into the pod, i mean that insted of having a route to get speed u can just get into a pod and use its speed to get enough speed to do your entire route, thats bad

it should be able to be run from an integrated server. follow the same install instructions, but instead of running the dedicated client, fire up the game, n host a server.
edit: doesn't seem to work with an integrated host. haven't tried running it as a dedicated through the game though.
P.S. will be checking this out. thanks for the effort, for those of us who still play once in awhile :)

Yes you can. It's a setting in the map properties that allows the flag carrier to enter vehicles. :domotwak:

StanRex 01-14-2006, 04:19 AM Concerning the pod being used in offense, well, it can be used to disrupt defense anymore, or it will be much harder, since it can't really strafe anymore, and his projectiles don't have splash damage.
as a tool to cap I have to agree the inherited velocity on exit change wasn t that useful. I'm probably going to revert back to the original value in the future.
The mod works with a "integrated" host and a dedicated server too if you follow the install procedure. It just has to be activated in the game like every other mutator. Can't remember what the console command is though.
If you have any ideas on how to balance the other vehicles...

I think I have fixed the bug, but won't do another release before a long testing time.
