Seems simple enough...

I am borrowing a better vid card from a friend.
Mine is AGP, his is PCI.
I have tried the following:
disconnected mine, inserted PCI card. Negative video.
Inserted AGP card, inserted PCI card. Monitor to AGP (as per usual)
Negative video
Took both out, just inserted my AGP card. System back to normal, get a little window up when I log in that says finishing installing your video card.

So, my question is this: Is this not a plug and play operation? Shouldnt I be able to swap one for the other? If not, what solutions do you offer?

DriverCleaner away your old drivers before putting in the PCI card?

Also, there may be a "Primary video adapter" setting in your BIOS somewhere. Look for it and set it to PCI if you find it.

Amadeus, he's not even getting video, so the drivers are not an issue yet. As well, the primary video adapter in the BIOS does not do much and would not cause this issue.

Since there's really nothing to go on here other than the possibility that maybe you fucked up the PCI card (what better video card still comes in PCI?), how about some hardware specs all around? And one suggestion, try using a different PCI slot.
