How to limit internet access...

Got a friend who has dsl at his business.

He has a problem with an employee who screws around on the internet at times. Is there a way to make a computer useable for things like photoshop...etc...but needs password or whatever to access the interweb?

What is the easiest way to accomplish this?

Thanx!

does he need network access? if not, just unplug his network cable :)

It's an employee he leaves at the shop by herself. Meaning while he is gone...he doesn't want her screwing around on the interweb.

Unplugging it would be something the 'offender' could just 'get around'. (plug it while she uses it...then unplugs it again to look like was left like it was)

so he's looking for a magic switch to flip while keeping the same login? can't do it with what you have in windows. you might be able to find software around to do it... maybe.

maybe he should just try talking to her and telling her to stop.

Tried talking to her...(in fact I think he is in the process of getting her replaced). But for now he is stuck with her and was hoping there was a way to password connecting to the internet (for DSL).

Hmm...I just thought of something...maybe there is Parental Software that would sorta do it.

if it's ppoe dsl and you're using the computer as the dialer, then you can do something about that.

Unplug the network cable... and take it with you! ;)

Use a parental block.

zonealarm firewall has a password feature to lock the net. Other than that I would say a parental locking program but zonealarm would actually be worth having after the girl is gone.
