Shikai 12-19-2005, 12:23 AM Alright, my mom gave me a call today about a dashboard warning light that lit up for her today. She can't find the owner's manual, so she couldn't figure out what it means, and I couldn't find crap on google, so I come here.
Her description of the warning light is "something that looks like half a car with something that looks like a screw or nut coming out of it." She said the car was running fine, and she had all the fluids checked a couple of weeks ago, and they were fine, except her brake fluid was a little low.
I have no idea what the hell this light means. Anyone else know?
Is there a light that comes on saying WARNING, YOU ARE DRIVING A ****ING FORD TAURUS?

haha PJ actually made me lol..
Shikai 12-19-2005, 12:26 AM No...and I'm surprised there hasn't been a recall to have that light installed.
Nebicanezer 12-19-2005, 12:38 AM what year is the car

soggynuts 12-19-2005, 12:44 AM radiator, or just check engine light...
call a dealership.
Mr. Scary 12-19-2005, 12:57 AM Take it to a mechanic ...preferable the non-dealer type and have them plug it into a diagnotic unit. I think it's roughly $50.00 to check it. I'm guessing a sensor went bad, if the car isn't overheating or any other obvious symptom. You might be able to find a decoding unit at a Checker Auto/Pep Boys, etc. for that car but I don't know crap about Taurus' to know where the port might be.
Shikai 12-19-2005, 01:00 AM Yeah, that's what I told her to do, so she's taking it to Auto Zone tomorrow (they do the check for free)...just trying to see if I could figure what's up before she takes it in.
It's not the check engine light...she knows which that is. She drives a Ford for Christ's sake.
Nebicanezer 12-19-2005, 01:04 AM did she tell ya where abouts its located? if so you can check here (http://www.hillerford.com/Web%20Pages/resource%20library/2001/2001cars/2001taurus/2001taurusmain.htm)

I have an ODB-2 reader. Its like $120 and will pay for itself with 2 of those completely useless warning lights.
My mothers old camry would get that ****ing check engine light on everytime she forgot to tighten her gas cap until it clicked, and thye would try to charge her like $50 to remove the warning. So I just bought one of the readers and removed it myself every time.

#17...Loose fuel cap warning light
God I love my mom...I really do.

Is it that hard to tighten a ****ing gas cap? ****ing women.
One time I had my check engine light come on, and the guy said "its probably just a loose fuel cap" to which I replied "No I'm not an idiot." It was a bad cat converter.

I OWN A TAURAS.
It is a wanring meaning that the bolts are falling out of your car and your engine is going to fall out.
DwarfVader 12-19-2005, 03:14 AM Just guessing from various ford warning lights I've seen over the years from either doing maint on them myself or helping friends fix their busted ****ing rides.
Sounds to me like its a "Check Engine" light. Which on newer vehicles either tied into the odo. or on a timer thats tied to the car being on.
In either case, chances are it just needs to be reset if she keeps regular maintenance on her vehicle.
