So I rolled the most overpowered character ever: an orc shaman.

Just looking for some advice from some experienced shamans out there for speccing for levelling.

This is my... 4th character that is going to hit 60 (wow I'm a nerd). When I get there I am planning on going 30 Elemental, 21 Resto. However for levelling I'm not sure what to do.

Enhancement tree looks completely retarded IMO, but would it be best to go down it for grinding, and get 2h axes/maces, and then flurry?

Thanks? :)

This is about as good as it gets (and roll a cow, you fool):

Your call on going with Improved Rockbiter / Windfury in enhancement - I took Windfury due to my shm coming up on a pvp box.

Start by taking enhance down to parry, switch to restoration and go all the way down, switch back to enhance to 60.

Improved windfury is about 4 DPS improvement or so, better to just get ILHW max'd two levels earlier.

An enhancement shaman, an elemental shaman, and a restoration shaman walk into a bar.

Everyone dies. :\

The next day blizzard removes bars from the game.

Definitely do restore/enhance for leveling as suggested. Elemental leaves you with a lot of downtime.

Enhancement just strikes me as being terrible :| I can see why it would be good for grinding (use less mana) but at 60 there's no way I'd touch that :\

If you have a Hand of Rag you would. I know that at least one of the Shammies on our server with Hand of Rag is 31 Enchance (he used the shitty 31 point talent on me).

Shamans are really mana inefficient for their damage spells. That's why you would want to go enhancement.

The shaman w/ hand of rag doesn't use it half the time.

Should I get a slow or fast 2hander?

I'm thinking faster w/ high DPS for keeping flurry up, since speed doesn't make a difference with no instant weapon attacks.

Doesn't matter, just go for the highest DPS you can find.

And he doesn't use it against Melee, he uses a shield and kills them with spells.

I recommend going down the Enhancement tree until you max out Flurry, then switch over to Elemental until you have Clearcast. Those are the essentials. After that it more or less doesn't matter, but I would keep going down the Elemental tree for Elemental Fury and spend the rest wherever(you'll be respeccing soon by that time anyway).

Once you get Clearcast use low rank shocks to get free max rank shocks.

There's little point in Restoration talents for grinding. The only moderately useful one is Improved Lesser Healing Wave, and you shouldn't be put in a situation where you need that.

Why would you skip out on Parry when it's only one point away? It's basically free 5% mitigation.

I'd get it eventually. Just not before Clearcast.

I thought good shaman builds used shields, am I mistaken?

Also, what's with the whole "using low rank shocks to get free high rank shocks" bit? With such a long cooldown wouldn't your target be dead by the time your 1/10 chance of clearcasting happened?

Clearcast lasts 15 seconds, so even if it did go off near the end of the mob's life you could use it on the next mob.

For levelling (grinding) 2handers are better because of the DPS blah blah, you don't have to use mana and have a crapload of downtime between mobs.

When I hit 60 I'm gonna set myself up w/ a nice 1h/shield and some good casting gear and pwn noobs like that.

Negative 2handers are ass for grinding because you have shitty chance to hit and almost any mobs equal to you or a bit higher are going to dodge/parry/block often.

Also almost any top notch 1hander with a good 2.5 or slower speed will put out nearly as much damage and you don't lose 20+% dmg mitigation.

1hander + shield for grinding or you'll spend half the time healing yourself and drinking because you have a shitty mana pool in of the monkey gear.

At 51 I sit at ~4k armour, ~3300 hp, ~3100 mana and I never have downtime and can wreck anyone within 5 levels of me easily and beat level 60's quite often if they are bad.

I can still get windfury crits for ~1k-1500 dmg on cloth which is basically the same you'll be hoping for with a 2hander.

Use shocks sparingly and conserve mana and you'll never have downtime with that high of armour.

But you're terrible at this game Salbert so I'm sure you'll be a mediocre shaman at best =]
