I managed to screw myself over again.

I deleted my master drives partitions, formatted, reinstalled windows... except now i cant access my slave drive. permission denied. i can list directories from command prompt so everything is still there, i just can't copy or do anything that i need to.

windows xp pro, SP2
master: maxtor 120gb
slave: maxtor 250gb

I haven't put in the maxtor cd yet, cuz i can't find it. Also i updated to sp2 right after reinstalling windows... if that has anything to do w/ it.

Or make an account called whatever you used when you had access to the drive.

edit: when i go to the recovery console from my windows cd it only allows me to log into C:... i dont remember if it used to let me log into a user on the slave or not tho.

Should be able to use a linux boot cd like Knoppix to access the drive and get at whatever files you need to.

I guess but the problem w/ that is, i have over 150gb of files i need... and only a 120gb drive available atm.
