30 hours, a $5000 pot, and the nut straight...

So, this isn't a story about online poker, but it just goes to show you that, despite my best protestations to my wife, poker is still a gamble...

I went to my casino about 7:00 friday night and, by 9 or 10 the next morning, I had built my stack to about $1500. My goal was to stay until Sunday afternoon, or as long as my wits stayed with me. Saturday afternoon was a blur, but by 8:00 or so I really seemed to catch my second wind. I went on a small rush and managed to build up to around $2300. At this point, Sunday seemed not so far away. Unfortunately, 1:00 AM was much closer...

The game was 2-5 no limit, the only game I really play. I was in the position exactly right of the button with QdJd. One guy makes it 15 to go, another guy raised to 30, and both of us call. Three guys in, about 100 in the pot at this point. Flop comes 10-K-A, rainbow (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). Now comes the crazy part. The first guy bets 50, the second guy raised to 150 straight. I think for a minute and put the raiser on pocket 10s, pocket Ks, or pocket As. I decide that their turn and river cards are going to cost them, and push all in. BOTH guys call. Both guys are completely tapped by my raise, but the second guy has only about 300 less than me. Everyone at our table is quite animated at this point, and people from other tables start coming over to see what is going on. I turn over the nut straight, the shorter stack turns over K-10, and the third guy turns over A-A. The turn is an apparent blank, a 3, but the river is another 3, and the entire pot goes to Ace's full...

You got your money in with a dominating hand. What more can you do?

so you had 500x the bb, pushed it all in on the flop, AND got a call from a 400x bb stack without the nuts

despite ur loss, something tells me that game is pretty good ;-D

thinking back now, the call seems almost absurd...at the time, my slightly clouded, up for close to 40 hours straight mind thought it was the worst call ever, though I didn't voice that opinion, just shook my head and moved on ;/

sorry to hear about the hand, but i think it's amazing you have the stamina to play poker for that long. i can usually never play for more than an hour straight before i start playing minesweeper. but i have a friend who plays only on aderol and he has great results so maybe i should try that.

I normally don't play that long; to be honest, I probably won't be putting that kind of session together again if I can help it. A good 7-8 hour session seems to be about perfect for me ;)
