Two main questions:

How is your guild run? One GM, multiple officers how?

(Main question please answer) And what do you expect our of your officers/GM's etc?

Our guild has basically multiple officers and one GM that honestly doesnt do really anything.
I am having some difficulty with my guild, there is a lack of leadership, we are going through raids fine, but its hard to put into words and I can see the guild falling apart due to the lack of our officers to provide the needed guidance and leadership.

I am going to bring this up to them, but I need help putting into words what I desire from the officers. Help/thoughts? Greatly appreciated.

our GM is a chick.

there are like 10 officers

everyone obeys any word she says just because she is a female.

but shes pretty reasonable and nice, and is online constantly.

Well what do you expect from the officers?

In other words, what is the criteria to be an officer?

GM/Officers setup

Both form and run raids and some of the officers do DKP charts. We also have Class Leaders who usually decide loot for their class during raids. Most of the class leaders are officers. These people are on the most out of everyone and make the initiative to schedule and form guild events and raids. They should also be able to understand and deal with any problems that arise within the guild concerning guild members such as scheduling problems, fights, a-holes, etc.

for me personally(it's different for everyone), i'd like the officers to be personable, and calm and collected during raids. i refuse to raid with people who get all hyped up on vent, get angry at people for no real reason, and take the game way too seriously.

also, people that constantly talk in /gchat are annoying.

that is all.

5 officers - Decide guild direction, policy, organize raid, interguild politics, etc.

8 class advisors - Advise class (duh), decide which members of class get to raid, communicate with officers via officer channel, recruit new members, deem trial recruits worth of membership, etc.

There's no exact criteria that needs to be met to be an officer in our guild, you just need to be capable of leading. Each one of our officers brings something unique to the officer corps, but I think if all 5 officers were a clone of one of the officers, it wouldn't be as successful as it is now.

Class advisors need have extensive knowledge of their class, be well-respected by their class members, and a good sense of keeping their classmates happy while maintaining the success of the guild. For example, if you've got two rogues who want to raid and there's only one spot available, and one of them has raided every day for the past week while the other hasn't raided once in the last two weeks (and has been online wanting to raid), the spot should go to the one who hasn't been able to raid, even if the other rogue is more qualified in every other way. Yes, the raid might take a slight hit in quality, but you won't have a discouraged rogue who's thinking about quitting the guild because he isn't getting any raid time.

Doing alright. Still searching for an epic dagger. :/ Since we began farming rag (few months ago), we've had 2 perdition's blades, and I was on neither of raids. So far no Dragonfang's Blades from Vael either. I'd even take a gutgore now, but we've had a sudden drought of those recently as well. But using blue weapons doesn't prevent me from owning faces in PvP. :]

I was a major lootwhore on our first Firemaw kill though, netting Cloak of Firemaw and Taut Dragonhide Belt. I'm an AP whore.

I'm levelling an orc warrior with some friends on Chromaggus now inbetween raiding, and so far he's been a lot of fun.

I'll have to cut down on my playtime in January though when I start my new job.

Our leader does very little besides settling disputes. If there is a disagreement on loot or anything he has the final word. Our officers organize raids and run the DKP system. Outside of that they do very little and get little to no perks from it. They are on the same level as everyone loot wise and they don't get reserved spots in raids. It works out nicely.

What exactly do they bring that is unique? Just curious.

My guild is run by King Kong.

And from our leadership, I expect nothing more than lots of laughs and the occasional hilarious wipe in a guild UBRS run.

I was astounded by our last run...we actually made it all the way to the bridge to DRAKK before our first wipe. It was pretty damn beautiful.

Similar for my guild, except the GM comes to nearly every raid. We consider it good luck if he dies on the first pull.

Ive been in 2 guilds.

One was a complete dictatorship. I've heard these work well in certain situations, unfortunetly for us the guild leader was a dick so we broke up after realizing we weren't really a guild, but just a vehicle for him to aquire loot.

Current guild is GM and Officers. They are aloof for the most part but are strict when they have to be. I expect leaders to explain what they need from members clearly, and follow up if the people don't do thier best to fufill that stuff.

the leaders in my guild organize raids and all, get diff pots etc out to who needs them. but other than that, they're pretty much like everyone else in the guild. they don't get any special perks loot wise or anything. we have one person who keeps track of dkp etc too, who is obviously a leader

in my guild there's certain expectations of all the members performance wise, we kinda expect ppl to understand their class and what they need to do, we expect ppl to know when they need to chill and stop fuckin around, so there's not too much for the leaders to do in that respect. they know how to get serious and put their foot down when needed though, if ppl get out of hand.

i don't know how most guild environments are, but all the guilds i've been in, especially the present one, have always been very laid back. there's always just been the idea that ppl know what's going on and are mature enough that they don't need policing. leaders were more figureheads, and just someone to have the final word in rare cases when they're actually needed
