k now, i have NO idea what enchant to throw on it. I've been currently been saving up for a shadow wing focus staff (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19355) and will likely not have to spend a huge amount of dkp.
Now the choices are obviously +22 int, which would be a waste provided i get a new staff, +20 spirit which would make this staff great to equip to regen (i have reflection and eventually 3pc SR) or should i just slap a +55 healing on it and stick with it as my main weapon ?
Sojourn 12-08-2005, 06:31 AM Funnily enough (okay, not really) I just got the Shadow Wing Focus Staff tonight for -really- cheap because the mages/locks are saving up for Nef's staff, and other healers saving up for his mace. I just decided to bid a bit on it just in case.
To answer your question though, I'd probably go spirit or int. The mat difference between spirit and int is minimal, and I really don't think it's worth +55 healing unless you have money/mats to spare. If I had to choose between the two.. hmm.. go spirit. With the mana regen increase with 3 piece SR next patch I think it would be worth it. Druids also have the nice advantage over Priests and Paladins (not sure about Shamans) of being able, depending on playing style, to cast less and maybe take advantage of it a bit more.
In all fairness, I'm really not sure how other Druids play. Healing for Druids seems a little more flexible and personal touch than Paly/Priest, at least in my experience. This is also considering you getting the Corn-staff in the near future, but with a ton of spirit I think you'll find Arlokk still has advantages in endurance fights.
FalseMyrmidon 12-08-2005, 08:10 AM Whoa, we actually killed Hexxer for once?
Violent 12-08-2005, 08:50 AM Will of Arlokk comes off the panther boss, not hexxer. But yeah hexxer is a fucking bitch
Sojourn 12-08-2005, 10:26 AM Wow, really? You guys have probs on them? Any questions on him? Or.. I dunno.. why is he so hard for you?
AlphaNeo 12-08-2005, 11:08 AM I can’t speak from a druid perspective but from a healing/priest view on druids I’d go with spirit. But then again it all depends on your experiences. If you find your self running out of mana early in fights or way prematurely, then you might want int. If you find your self dealing with a lot of burst dps/mortal strikes then you want healing. If you find your self still low on mana coming out of bear/cat form, then go spirit. With the new resto talents and the 3pc easy to get stormrage bonus, I think spirit would be your best bet. Remember with Druids there regen is spi/4 whereas priest’s its /3, making mana/5 a better bet then spirit, unless you can stack spirit well, which this staff does. Your choice friend, just from my view on druids, seems you spend a lot of time regening in bear/cat form, putting spirit to good use. The thing about putting spirit on it, when you get a better staff later on, you can still use arlokk as a good regen weapon.
Helado 12-08-2005, 11:16 AM I've been trying to get that staff for +20 spirit since ZG came out :( Then again I use bene for my main weapon though. I'd probably put +20 spirit on it and use it until you get your hands on the focus staff or even the mana/5s one that drops off of the green dragons.
Calder 12-08-2005, 11:41 AM I stopped going to ZG unless they need a mage (highly unlikely ;) ) since I don't need loot and other people do, but basically we clear ZG and then tried hexxer a few times, wiped a bit, and then gave up. Since then nobody wants to try him, or if they do its at the end, gets progressively more retarded after long times in instances >.>
I'm sure if we actually fucking tried him first thing we'd kill him easily, but meh.
Its sad he has teh best caster loot.
TooSmoothe 12-08-2005, 12:04 PM definately put spirit on that badboy, dont worry bout the stats with int or healing. You will use this as a great regen weapon after you get your shadowwing.
ragingbunny 12-08-2005, 02:01 PM Since it's so heavy with spirit already, do +spirit. Just make it a monster regen item.

*droool* soooo jealous
ya most people have a mageblade or sod and the focus staff isn't much of an upgrade, plus no crit, so i plan on snagging that...
ya i was planning on doing 55 healing but i started thinking about spirit, you all have convinced me. enjoy your corn stalk dude :D
[hAuS] C R A B 12-08-2005, 03:32 PM I'd probably go +spirit. I like to maximize items that have good stats, especially weapons that can be swapped during combat. If you just keep making everything equal, like enchanting +INT on it, then all your weapons become the same. Start with a monster INT staff, cast your way to OOManaville, pop in this badboy with +57SPR itself. Mmmmm, nice regen.
Especially since our mana regen just got nurfed on Tuesday.

Splain?
[hAuS] C R A B 12-08-2005, 05:19 PM Mana regen has been bugged for druids and it doesn't seem consistent. People with reflection were getting 30% regen while casting. Some got it and some didn't. Might be if you had/didn't have reflection before the 1.8 changes.
Now you get 0% regen if you have no reflection. Some of the "feral" healers with HoTW, but not many resto talents are regenning at 0% while casting.
I think they realized that a bugged 15% + 15% reflection + SR set 15% would get crazy. Or, maybe they are nurfing all the dr00ds that just picked the HoTW talent and have uber purple gear ... they are up in the 9000 mana range and still have a viable dps cat and tank bear.
Try healing a known event ... like an MC boss and see if you end up the same as before Tuesday.

Uh isn't that how it worked for every caster out there? Without talents/gear/mana5s you should get 0% regen while inside the 5s rule?

Yeah. It took me like 5 seconds to realize.. they announced it and I paused for a sec, then asked "Wait.. what? You're serious?" I don't put much stock into crit%.. so the staff is an upgrade in every way in my eyes, even if it's a small one.
I think that even when you get your focus staff, you might still be pleased with the huge spirit bonus of Arlokk's with +spirit enchant for those long endurance fights. It's a win-win situation.. a specialized staff purely for endurance raid bosses, and a hot sexy +healing focus staff with zero downsides for everything else. Hopefully it drops for you soon, and thanks Pagy :)
