Calamari 11-27-2005, 10:05 PM So my guild has been trying to kill this fucker for a couple of weeks now. We've spoken with other guilds who roll him easily and we can't seem to emulate their success.
We have the MT take the Bloodlord until the raptor dies. That's about the only thing we've gotten down solid.
We've tried having everyone but the MT do some light DPS from the hill and the wall with the spears.
We've tried having rogues and other warriors go in and do light melee dps to help out.
The problem seems to be that after he does his "Im watching you" thing, the tank can't get the aggro back. And for the most part everyone spams ESC when they are being watched to keep him from charging. Some times it works, others it doesn't. I've been charged myself even if I haven't done anything the whole fight (waiting for my turn in the healing rotation).
Any suggestions would be cool, I would like to see the end of this instance some time before I die of old age.
ragingbunny 11-27-2005, 10:25 PM We don't use the spear LOS trick. Too much trouble with him evade healing to full and it not working properly. We put everyone down below in a large circle(spreading out is nice) around the MT. Offtank raptor and kill it first. Then everyone chill while bloodlord enrages. This is when your tank should pop shield wall. Outlast the enrage then send in all out DPS. Anytime bloodlord does his random charge the tank loses aggro. Everyone has to turn off DPS and whoever has aggro should run towards the MT. MT chases down bloodlord taunts him back then once he lands a sunder DPS is good to go again. The hardest part is the random charges that wipe aggro. You can't avoid them and you not only need a tank whose on the ball but people who will stop DPS and run to the tank to let him get it back. The rest of the fight is pretty easy.
Make sure people being watched don't cast or attack or anything except they can move around. People can die and it won't matter as long as person dying isn't the person being watched. If bloodlord kills the person being watched he dings...which is not good haha. Melees need to move out after getting hit by whirlwinds to bandage themselves. Having a good tank is huge. Stoneshield potions, whipped root tubers, spirit of the boar potion...yea it's prolly excessive but when you're starting out on bloodlord a quality MT can really make it easier.
Bloodlord gaves us a lot of trouble for a while :/
NeverSummer 11-27-2005, 10:25 PM CTRaid mod is huge... we have a person that whispers the person thats being watched just before the debuff happens. IF you can manage to have people not die from that the fight will be cake, but if somebody does just lay off the dps until the tank regains aggro. It is kind of difficult at first, but definitly not too bad.
EDIT: bah he posted right before me... Oh and one huge point is NO DOTS or HOTS... that will get you killed even if your not moving while being watched.
sekdar 11-27-2005, 10:36 PM camp in the corner, MT on bloodlord, OT on raptor.
kill raptor, all heals on MT. bloodlord casts a whirlwind which the melee can OOR. OT stays in camp to taunt bloodlord out when he charges camp.
turn off autoattack when he casts threatening gaze. MT shouldn't ever lose aggro really, and taunt gets it right back if he does.
BlodBath-VuP- 11-27-2005, 11:54 PM Aggro can be feisty on bloodlord, the key is just having other tanks to help control it till the aggro gets back on the MT.
He has 2 charge abilities, one if a watched person screws up, and one that he does at random anyways. Both are partial aggro wipes, so DPS needs to either stop, or go very light till any tank has him. Having an OT taunt him back to the MT is a handy strat. The fight can seem somewhat chaotic, what with him charging around all the time, but if you're organized he'll go right to a tank and dps hardly has to stop at all. Bloodlord ends up being one of the easiest bosses in the zone, next to Hakkar, really.
FalseMyrmidon 11-28-2005, 01:08 AM ^^ What Blodbath said (I'm in the same guild as him). Jin'do the Hexxer should be the boss of ZG or maybe the Panther boss.
Edit: Also, not to be rude (feels odd saying that on TW) but I really don't see how you can wipe on Bloodlord with the ghosts ressing you.
well everytime someone dies he powers up
basically what happens is if too many people drop, he's unbeatable
Peewhy 11-28-2005, 10:26 AM .
Krius 11-29-2005, 10:10 AM your rogues suck I can take two hits and he misses me most of the time.
Calamari 11-29-2005, 10:25 AM When we send our rogues in they tend to fair pretty well against his spin attack thing. They are up to snuff on bandaging and what not, so they usually don't drop until a: the MT dies or b: he can't regain aggro and the blood lord's hate list goes all over the fucking place.
Madend 11-29-2005, 01:32 PM Rogues shouldn't take much damage at all really... use feint liberally to avoid catching aggro and just run away from the whirlwind attack. His whirlwind doesn't do damage until a few seconds AFTER he starts spinning, so if the melee DPS just turn around and run away they can easily avoid 2k damage every time, which makes healing the group and tank much easier and avoids deaths.
PessimiStick 11-29-2005, 03:18 PM At the bloodlord you want to have preferably 3 tanks, a bunch of hunters/warlocks for inexhaustable ranged dps. NO ROGUES(if they get aggro they die instantly and contribute to levelling him up).
*snip*
Yeah so, your guild/rogues suck. A lot. A whole fucking lot.
Assuming I don't get random charged, I take a total of 0 damage fighting Bloodlord, and I can't remember the last time I wasn't #1 on damage by a huge margin.
Tell your rogues to suck less, and get out of the way of the whirlwind, it's not difficult at all.
Peewhy 11-29-2005, 03:46 PM .
Krius 11-29-2005, 06:12 PM well without rogue dps he might have trouble also, just have the rogues spam feint and vanish after like a little while.
PessimiStick 11-29-2005, 08:34 PM I am giving advice to someone whose guild is having trouble with the bloodlord. If you are having trouble with the bloodlord chances are you aren't in an MC capable guild. It was directed to the new starting out guild that has all blues.
I don't know if you realize this but the difference between doing ZG with MC gear and without is huge - this is taken in with the strategy I laid out.
It is a low risk working strategy for a team that needs help.
This strategy will work for you. End of story.
I could fight him NAKED and not die. Gear has dickall to do with it.
**Majin Buu** 12-01-2005, 01:49 AM Key to the fight: Have a really good tank.
Oh and dont be stupid and do anything when he is watching you.
psycore 12-23-2005, 08:19 AM Tip - His whirlwind thing hurts BAD. However, you have a split second to back away before he uses it. Get all your melee to back the hell away from him when he goes into the animation. If you pay attention you can avoid it easy.
Ben Reed 12-23-2005, 03:36 PM As long as you're prepared to drop everything when he charges or when he watches you, Bloodlord should be a pretty easy fight, provided you have a well-geared MT and at least one offtank to help taunt him out of the caster ranks. He's a simple fight but he hits hard, so you have to keep an eye on him at all times no matter what role you are.
Dodging his Whirlwind is kinda hard with lag, though, so if you're cloth and you're seeing animations a little later than you should be, you should definitely take extra care whenever he charges the back ranks. Stay spread out as much as you can so that he can't get a twofer with a Whirlwind (or God forbid, a threefer).
Rogues getting aggro shouldn't be an issue if your rogues and tanks are competent. Hell, even on some of Serenity Now's most recent ZG raids (which were sloppy at best due to a lot of our A-team being on vacation and people dicking around), I can't remember a Rogue pulling aggro on Bloodlord ONCE. Getting out of his Whirlwind should also be a non-issue unless lag is involved.
Sojourn 12-27-2005, 11:27 AM We just zerg his ass. Usually 0-1 death in the fight. Just make sure your healers are competent, and your players are smart enough to 1) not pull aggro and 2) stop doing shit when he's looking at you.
Calamari 12-27-2005, 11:57 AM We found a strat that works, and we walk all over him now.
We also downed Gehennas through Golemagg last night, and every fight after Garr was a first attempt.
