Advice on which hunter pet

Hunter, Warrior, Healer (Druid or Priest) will be grouping together... in our upper 20s. Which pet would you advise?

Assume full competence from all people.

I've always liked cats for all-around good stats :shrug:

I got a Lion at level 11 in the barrens, but I am now 23 and it doesn't have dash. The trainer doesn't even have it. What gives?

Stable it, tame a pet that has/can learn dash, and once that pet knows it, dismiss it and teach it to your cat.

I use a cat. Just because you probably won't need it to tank, a cat is a decent all around pet. Can learn abilities like cower if you're worried about aggro. You might want to try something different with a better ability (stealth isn't that great for leveling unless you need to go afk as a NE). Things like screech, wolf howl, or the poison might be better, but I've never used them.

Post patch I want to try a boar to see how well that works out.

i really like using a croc on my mid 20s hunter, he tanks like a champ with a resonable amount of damage. I use one of those silly wind lizard things for dps

tells you what pets can learn what abilities at what levels and where they are

so say you want dash.. it can be learned by the lvl 32 STV tigers, go out and find one, tame it, and fight with it until you get the message that you learned dash. then you can abandon the tiger if you don't want it, pull your original pet out of the stabes, and teach it dash
