Which is the best way to earn money in empire space.

I am just starting EVE as something to do when not raiding in WoW, and need to ramp up my funds. Right now I have 2 ships, a mining frigate and a combat ship. I have been running both mining and combat missions all day. So my question is, is it faster/easier to just run agent missions that do deadspace runs and kill the pirates inside, setup a mining operation with a cruiser while I train combat skills up, or is there some other means I can go about earning money at this rookie stage of the game.

If you want to learn about combat, I'd suggest doing the complexes, they seem to give a combat edge. I personally took the mining/hauling route, and got a good return that way too. You can make money just about any way you choose.

If you choose mining, just jet a can and sit on a rock. Beware of ore theifs (nothing to stop a hauler from sauntering up to your can to steal your ore). Train up the mining skills so you can learn Miner II's, and you'll be that much more efficient.

Hook up with a hauler, and some other miners, and it make things that much easier.

If you can fly a cruiser with Miner II's, and a survey scanner, pay us a visit in 0.0 space, and you can make 30mil isk in one night. (it takes a few days to receive payment in minerals, but it's worth the wait! :D)

Trading seemed to be the best way to make money early in the game for me. Doesn't require many skills to be good at it. Also if you happen to be Gallente I can show you some good nearby trade routes.

Nowadays I make most of my money doing Level 3 missions and 0.0 NPCing.

Im new also, Ive been making easy ISK by using a thorax and jet can mining in .5 space, NPCs arent overly hideous, the loot is lame, but you get 10000 isk for killin them, meanwhile your also mining omber.
What you do is mine, JETTSION the ore, then fill that "can" as you mine because those jetcans can hold more than your cargo hold.
Then comeback with your itty and haul the jetcan contents home to the base.
I started with an imiscus and an itty, a very nice guy gave me a thorax, so I carry 3 Gaussian, 2 150mm rail, 3 drones of both types, and I have bookmarked a couple of routes from and too the base and belts.

Make sure you set yourself up a good set of bookmarks, you will be A bored, and B wasting huge amounts of time docking and locating roids without good bookmarks.
If you dont have an Iteron yet, a good set of bookmarks, a belt full of omber or condensed Scordite, and an Imiscus can make lots of ISK.

I run missions too, try to use only Quality 19 agents.

Also jump in to Tribalwar channel, usually somebody there can help, if not rookie help is good most of the time for basic stuff.

Profhet, I realize you were given your Thorax, but for Gallente, using a Vexor gives you a drone bonus. I can only fly 2 drones in a rax, but 5 in a vex. :D

In a vex you will be able to fly more with your current skills...:D

non non I was just kidding about the lasers, Ihave rail turrets mounted. I just got upgrade em to mediums.
